You're telling me you don't see the ghosting on each fish? It's like a retinal imprint that stays behind on the screen. That would drive me potty if I had to watch it all the time.
TIP: pause the video intermittently and you'll see the ghosting (or double images).

this means that when viewing content from the Fuji w3 over hdmi the results could be the same.
I think there are 2 possibilities:
1. some users never used hdmi and thus do not report their monitors as defective or do not notice the vertical lines, and all monitors have this issue
2. the hdmi connection has this defect only on "some" monitors
So far I don't recall anyone saying they have this issue over DVi, and neither do I recall anyone with Hdmi not having this issue so I'll go with "1" for now.
Most people agree that 3D BD players bring a lot of problems but that 3D files are the solution. When I purchase a 3D movie, I rip it on my Hard Drive with DVDFab (3D Ripper) from the standard BD drive included in my PC. I have never got any crash as said by some one on this forum.
A big choice of output is available and I prefer AVCHD (mp4) and Side By Side (SBS). If the 3D option is correctly chosen on the monitor the playback is perfect.
My only complain deals with black colors which are not black enough! Many people say that the new 25 inches LG monitor display « Fantastic Black Level ».
I can't comment on the black levels for the 25" screen but I saw a demo of the 23" LG DM2350D and all I know is that when I saw it, I immediately wanted one. The picture is beautifully bright (just like watching in 2D) and I assume that the black levels were great as all I saw was a nice 3D image with depth, pop out and good contrast. Maybe I am less fussy than others but also, the image looked full 1080p to me and I didn't notice the half resolution or any interleaved lines (at least not from 70 cms away) Because of what I saw, I've decided to go with this TV/Monitor instead of the LGD2342P. I guess my bad experience with that, coupled by the cheaper feel of it has put me off. It's always best to stick with a model which you have seen the demo of IMO.
Regarding Blu-ray 3D ripping and DVDFab, that was me having problems with my computer crashing. I tried the demo but it used to just freeze after a while and then crash. I think I did have some success with it and managed to get a few minutes of SBS "Monster House" which looked fine. I don't particularly want to spend $50 or more on more software though as it takes time to do the whole operation and I'd prefer to play the movies directly from the disc. Also, I may be renting 3D Blu-ray movies in the future. That way I can see which I like the best and which have the best 3D before I decide to buy the movie. It works out a lot cheaper in the long run.

(P.S. Thanks for buying my Carnival of Souls conversion earlier this year)

"I've just ordered the LG DM2350D as a replacement for a faulty LG D2342P. I've been promised delivery by 1 pm tomorrow so fingers crossed. I know there are a few people here on the board looking at getting one of these LG 3D monitors, so I'll post some of my findings tomorrow. I'll give it a test with 3D Blu-ray over HDMI first. If all is well with that then I'll connect it to my PC or use the USB input and view some SBS 1080p YT3D clips.
please let us know tomorrow how good is your replacement monitor/tv compared to the previous one because i'm thinking about sending mine back because i'm truly annoyed that i didn't go for the one with remote, changing from 2D to 3D everytime i want to watch a movie,game..etc is annoying me badly.so i may go for the DM2350D specially if image quality in both 2D & 3D is better (blacks are better).

Yes, there are a few extra features...the remote control being an appreciated one. I don't really need the TV Tuner but speakers and USB input are both useful (although I have a USB input on my BD player). As my Laptop isn't that powerful this BD player USB input is really handy for playing downloaded 1080p SBS clips. Hopefully going to get a 32Gb Flash drive for a Christmas present.

i will wait your response tomorrow before i decide if i'm going to order the DM2350D or not,so please pay attention to image quality in 2D & tell me if its really better as i've read some review braising the blacks level of this tv/monitor while saying the total opposite for the D2342P blacks!!
so please let me know about the image quality in 2D mode,if its the same then i will save myself the hassle of returning & re-ordering the other one specially at this busy time of the year, plus i got to keep the dvi port which is more useful to me than a usb port which is no match to playing 1080p directly from pc's internal hard drive or some lousy speakers which are too no match for my logitech speakers. Remote control is a massive plus but image quality has to be better or else i will just keep the D2342P. thanks Gae..waiting for your reply tomorrow
as905, I can't really compare it to the D2342P because, I didn't spend that much time with it. Once I found it had a problem (and was missing the stand so I could only view it horizontally) I packed it back in the box almost immediately. I can tell you what the DM2350D is like on its own though and I'll bear in mind the black levels...although these are subjective things of course.
Yesterday my High Speed HDMI 1.4 cable arrived in the mail. Today the ViewHD 8 Port Multi-Functional Switch/Converter arrived in the mail. After an exhausting 6 HOURS of setting up the Switch/Converter, I finally tested the 3D Blu-Ray picture quality of the LG D2342P at 1080P through VGA to HDMI Conversion. I was very impressed with the picture quality. Both 3D and 2D are the best I have seen. CNet's review of this monitor is way off! I'm still running tests with PowerDVD11 but, so far, so good. More later!

To be honest, I have found a few "official" reviews of these LG monitors very tepid as if there is a bit of Brand favoritism going on.
PGTweed, so you had no issues with 3D Blu-ray then? No vertical scan lines or juddery effects? This is over PC then running PowerDVD11? Is a HDMI 1.4 cable a necessity? My local retailer used a standard HDMI when they tested my BD player with their demo DM2350D. The 3D movie played perfectly well.
Perhaps the problems occur when connected to some standalone BD players or maybe there is a faulty batch doing the rounds? Could also just be "law of averages"...a small percentage of monitors distributed will be faulty...
Mine arrives in two hours. I really, really, really hope there are no issues with it. Fingers and toes crossed.

Gae, I would get HDMI 1.4 cables to be on the safe side. If HDMI 1.3 cables work for your setup, you shouldn't have any problems. I have PowerDVD9 (3D Blu-Rays have video and audio issues) I'm still working on PowerDVD11. I'll let you know as soon as I'm done.
yes i think there is brand favoritism specially with CNet who seems to be up Samsung's backside. from own experience i think LG makes better monitors than Samsung.
OK, been tinkering with this set for a few hours now. the good news is that there's no issues with regards the 3D Blu-rays. The picture looks sharp and vibrant and black levels are as black as I imagine they can get. I watched some of "Monster House" and "Resident Evil" and they both looked good, although I don't think either of them are renowned for great depth. The 1080p 2D picture is very nice too...text is pin sharp unless you are in 3D mode when the interlacing effects the edge of the texts. Now I have to add that the interlacing was very faintly noticeable while viewing "Monster House". It is noticeable by a very subtle "glassy" texture on the faces of the characters....not too distracting though, given that the picture is so sharp and crisp. Overall, very happy with the 3D Blu-ray setup.
I connected it to my PC via D-Sub and DVI/HDMI adapter to HDMI input. It took me a while to set this up as it wouldn't accept the resolution that my card was set because it had an 85Hz refresh rate. I had to connect my old monitor again and set it at 1080 60Hz. When I reconnected it was very nice with both HDMI and D-Sub. There is no problem with text at all...it is pin sharp. I didn't think black levels looked as good as the preset 3D Blu-ray blacks but that was probably to do with my graphic card video settings. I watched a couple of DVDs, upscaling was very good but some grain was evident....still as good as other upscaling I've seen.
I had some confusion about how to view Stereoscopic clips via PC. I eventually worked it out. You can either play the side by side clip in your media player and then go into 3D mode on the monitor....or you can play the side by side clip in Stereoscopic Player and output to row interlaced WITHOUT setting the monitor to 3D mode. It was a bit confusing at first but I managed to get there in the end. Adjusting the aspect ratio or zooming in on the video in Stereoscopic Player doesn't effect the 3D....the interlacing still works. Now, the clips I was viewing were only 480 and 720p and so didn't look as good as the 3D Blu-ray although the depth was better on some of the YT3D clips. I have to say here that there was ghosting evident on several of the clips, especially the ones that had a wide parallax. The ghosting comes over as a red halo around the objects.
I started to watch Strictly Come Dancing on BBC HD ( it's the only 3D programme I can watch on terrestrial) and it looked very nice...a nice sharp image with good depth on the front camera which was setup really nicely to give a good z-depth. Unfortunately, 20 mins in and I had a power cut due to a thundertsorm and I lost my whole satellite signal. Typical. The only 3D programme I can watch and that happens. Fortunately, the Tv wasn't damaged but I'm not sure about the Digibox.
I forgot to add that the LG DM2350D is a much nicer monitor than the LG D2342P. It is sturdier, has better inputs (face on rather than under) has a remote with a nice menu and the front panel controls are touch sensitve. I thought that the LG D2342P felt cheap. The inputs were awkward to get to and felt fragile and plastic, there was no remote and the panel buttons were chunky and awkward. For the extra money, I would definitely recommend the DM2350D over the D2342P. It's a lot classier in all departments.
My biggest gripe though is that after wearing the passive glasses for a couple of hours or more, I had eyestrain and a slight headache. I have to say though that I do get bloodshot eyes when I wear anaglyph glasses for more than 30 mins and so my eyes are more sensitive than most people's I guess. I'm 46 so it may be an age thing..relaxed muscles and all that. Later on I might test this monitor with my X3D shutter glasses just to see if I can get them to work with the interlaced signal. I think it's only supposed to work with a CRT monitor though but it might be worth a go. I think I will be OK with the passive glasses anyway as I only intend to watch the occasional 3D movie or YT3D clip.
Hope that helps you guys to make your minds up. I haven't tried the TriDef software as I'm not much of a gamer but I might try the Avatar game at some point. I'm sure that will look great...even if the game is a bit repetitive.
thanks a lot Gae for the helpful response,now i'm unsure whether to get the 23" or the 27" ( DM2780D vs DM2350D ) ?
Gae regarding the eye strain i also noticed that after watching a 3D clip for about 10 or 15 minutes that my eyes are unable to focus,i feel like everything i'm looking at is in 3D !! lol
btw there is better quality passive glasses on ebay,i've read a comment on amazon that these glasses perform better than the LG ones.
Gae I used to have bloodshot eyes when using shutters+crt (or just Crt)- when I was using the iz3d display everything was awesome (except that the display had a lot of ghosting). Thanks for the info and nice long review!
i just ordered the LG DM2350D,3 reasons why i've gone for the 23"
1- sharper & clearer image due to smaller pixels.
2- the design/style of the 23" is just so much nicer than the 27".
3- i owned 27" Iiyama last summer & i wasn't comfortable with it's huge size as a PC monitor,i had to move my head all the time when playing fps games while with 23" i only need to move my eyes, plus most of my monitors has been 23" -24" ( most made by LG

as905, I'm sure if you get a problem free model, you'll love it. For the price, getting a 1080p Full HD 2D and passive 3D TV/Monitor. ...we can't grumble really can we?
Yesterday I have installed the last version of PowerDVD 11 which is able to directly playback 3D Blu-Rays. So I don't need to make any ripping with DVDFab. In PowerDVD 11, I chose for the source Auto-detect and for the display Micro-polarized LCD 3D (Row-interleaved). With this choice, the only option on for the D2342P monitor is Interlaced Lines (no more Side By Side).

i have no doubts that i'm going to be mega happy with it,the passive 3D is so amazing & very well done by LG,plus the glasses are dirt cheap to buy with no need for stupid batteries so its win win for 3D,the 2D image quality of the D2342P is rich & more enjoyable than my previous LG W2363D 120hz monitor.
oh & i must say amazon is the best online retailer ever.
thanks Gae if it wasn't for you i would not have ordered the nicer model with the badly needed REMOTE.
