I just found this forum while searching for a possible solution and I wanted to make a quick post and see if anyone had some insight for the issue I am having.
I just bought the 55LW5600 and I use it as a computer monitor because I primarily game and watch movies from my PC. I just came from a 46" Vizio LCD. I'm not sure what the model number was, but it was an older TV.
My issues is that on my new TV I seem to be getting a decent amount of input lag even with the TV set to game mode and trumotion off. I have tried many different settings and sometimes the input lag seems better but it feels kinda random. I have a normal 24" Benq monitor hooked up as a second monitor and can feel the difference on that monitor as I drag a window back and forth between the TV and that monitor. I did not have this issue with the Vizio.
I've read a couple things on this forum so far. I didn't realize there was a difference between types of HDMI cables and apparently there are low speed and hight speed cables? I have an older DVI to HDMI cable that I am using and I am wondering if I went out and bought a new cable if that would possible solve the issue or is that only for 3D?
Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Aside from the input lag I like the TV a lot and if I can fix this issue, I will have to return it.
*EDIT
After trying it with an RGB(VGA) Cable, the input lag seems to be gone. I am not sure how I feel about using analog but the picture seems perfect. I am concerned at how my game consoles will perform over HDMI still since I haven't had a chance to try it. Still looking for advice. I have a couple weeks to make a decision before I take it back.
*EDIT #2
Ok, so I kept searching and I read something about "LABELS" after looking for a long time through my TV I found out I could label my PC as "PC" and the input lag seems to virtually be gone. I will need to do more testing, but I have to go to work. So I am still open for suggestions.

Your edit #2 was what I was going to suggest. If you label the input as being from a PC, this serves to turn off a lot of the video processing. I also think it forces the "just scan" format (instead of 16x9), which eliminates all re-sizing of the frame. In addition, it may be turning off some other things like Tru-Motion, and perhaps local dimming as well, that also take processing time.
The same tip applies to people who hook up a game console. Even though the "gaming" video mode reduces some of the lag, it also seems like relabeling the input to PC reduces the lag even further.
Also, there is a dedicated owners thread for the LW5600 series that is under the Flat Panel LCD sub-forum - 100+ pages long.....
I'm having the same issue with this LED TV, even after the software updates. I use this TV as a monitor for my PC as well, and I've reduced all of the lag within the Windows desktop. However, once I start a game (no matter what game it is) the input lag returns...I've tried several things, changing to game mode on and off, and turning the TV and back on while the game is running...nothing fixes it.
Has anyone else run into this issue? I have the input set to PC, and I know I have everything right according to recommendations...I feel terrible about this; I just bought the TV two weeks ago, and love all the other aspects of it, but this PC gaming input lag is making me regret the purchase...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a new firmware only available via the LG website that greatly improves lag. For some reason automatic updates doesn't detect the new version. All you need is a USB thumb drive. Let us know if it helps or not.

I just downloaded the latest firmware update (4.02.62) off of the LG website, and once I plugged the USB stick into my LED TV it told me the version was what was currently updated on my LED TV...apparently, automatic updates did catch it and I still notice lag whenever I start a game in Windows...Is this the current version? Am I just ignorant?
I just got done researching input lag since i was in the market for a new tv. The LG models are notorious for input lag so i avoided them. Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news and hope that i'm wrong about your model.
like you said at the top, set the input label to pc, change your picture mode to "game" and disable any fancy features you can find. vga will normally get better response times but i hear it drops quality a bit. if you can't notice any loss in image with vga than that is very good and i hope the drop in input lag eliminates it enough to a point you dont notice it. if you do end up returning it, i recently took the plunge on a toshiba tl515u. From what everyone is saying, the screen has next to no input lag and great 3d.
I suffered with input lag issue on this TV for quite a while, looked through all the forums for solutions and all that but I finally figured out a way to remove all the input lag. I can't notice any at all and I play a lot of first person shooters. I have no idea if any of these steps are redundant or not but I know this series of steps does remove all the input lag so that the frames look identical on my monitor as well as my tv in duplicate display mode.. Also I applied these settings to my xbox 360 display settings and really ripped up a few matches on the weekend much better than I've ever played
1. First, Set the input label to game ( PC may work also )
2. Go to Home->Setup->Picture and set the mode to Expert 1, turn basically everything off (noise reduction, 'super mpeg blah blah' ) turn the backlight back up to 80 or 100 so it's not as dim, Ensure TruMotion and LED dimming is OFF
3. Exit that menu, and use the button on the remove at the top that says AV mode and set it to 'game' (this may be the redundant part but I think there is some inheritence regarding the stuff in expert 1 )
4. Now for the key to making it all work, Change the input to something else all together, then change it back to the Game Input you want, it's almost like you have to switch inputs for the changes on processing to really get applied.
I wasted many hours playing with settings but not changing inputs back and forth so I wasn't 'really' seeing the changes and assumed it wasn't working, Lame! Anyway post back if it works for you.
A little extra : Regarding the 3d on the TV you can really reduce ghosting quite a bit by setting the sharpness value to around 34. Also by using the RealD polarized 3d glasses from the theatre, they seem to work alot better than the ones you get from LG regarding ghosting
Above method did not eliminate all input lag for me. Does anyone else experience bad lag with the "gamepad" controller? I'm wondering if that's the culprit and not the TV. I'm also using old hdmi cables if that makes any difference.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
