Finally, a unit came in yesterday for display purpose and i was excieted as a kid to try it (i work at a navy store here in Italy), i scanned the product on a register and the price was 775 dollars!!! i hooked it up to a Ps3, went through the settings and WOW, it really looked like i expected. The blur on the right side was minimum so it didn't bother me much, i tried some imax blu-rays and the depth was more then acceptable and better than the sony 3d tvs we have in the store without the annoying crosstalk. I stood 3m away from the tv wall, when i looked at 2 46 inches tvs one next to another and then inside the HMZ, it still looked bigger than the 2 tvs put together, colors were amazing and i didn't notice any grid on the screen. It was a slow day at work so i spent a lot of time with it and although i have a BIG nose the unit fit pretty good, no pain after a pretty long session but it could be lighter! Then i put Uncharted 3 and i couldn't get the 3d to work so i played in 2d for a while, i put a black cloth on my head to have full darkness and the result was super amazing, i think i looked like an idiot and i think peple were staring but who cares eheeh. The audio was ok, not great but not bad, i couldn't hear people talkin to me! The unit we got is 110V, when we get other units in i'll connect it to a 220 outlet with the permission of the sony rep!

Well, IMHO it's kind of hard to do with the stock setup. I'd refer to any of the comfort mods out there, but if you dont want to mod you very expensive device then my only tip is to try and try again. I'ts not impossible, but you probably wont find a setup that fits every time you put it on. You probably have to spend some minutes each time to make it fit nice.

Hi , just got mine today , i already ordered the cushion pads I found out about in this thread 2 weeks ago but these will still be a month away .
I fiddled with the visor , put a Wii strap on top that helps to re-leave the weight but the thing kept pressing on my nose .
In the end i used a piece of elastic band tied next to the speakers putting some tension on the lower back of my head and so lifting the weight off my nose .
That worked for me .

PS ,

The image gets a little blurry at the extreme far edges and then only when using the device using the PC desktop .
In movies the picture is awesome .

forget about unblurry image.. it's simply impossible with current optics. there will be always more or less visible.

solution? try to adjust screen size, move the hud to the middle of the screen. then the mind is not paying attention to the corners..

i keep on playing bf3 with hmz-t1 for months now, this is the revolutionary thing!

I wouldn't worry about adjusting the text once you turn it on.. I have never been able to get that perfect. I always adjust while watching a movie to make it look the best I can.

Well, people react differently to current 3D technology. Some feel no strain at all, while others can't stand it. Could be that your brain just can't take it.
However, try adjusting the sliders a bit, and reduce the 3D depth for games (if you use nvidia 3D vision, pressing CTRL + F3 or F4 in game adjusts the depth.)

What I've done here is to simply unscrew the straps, removed the pad from one of the extras that came with the box (so I could revert to original if I wanted, however this is so damn comfortable I probably never will..) and attached the straps from a hard hat with stripes. You could of course use glue to make a neater mod, this is mostly a mock-up.

What this did for me is to more efficiently spread the weight over my head, and remove the stress the forehead pad did. The HMD is actually just hanging from the front with 2 stripes, and the headphones stabilize it very well without adding any preassure on the ears. It is also perfectly centered, providing a sharper image.

These are the straps from a Peltor hard hat, available to buy seperate for aprox. $10:

In your mod what are the additional strap ties for? I can see where the two strap ties are connected to the front to hang the hmd from but I don't know what the other strap ties are doing. Also could you give a link to where you bought the hard hat straps from? The back strap that came with the HMD broke on my unit so I'm trying to find a mod that eliminates the use of those straps. I've currently tried the welders helmet mod but the helmet that I bought doesn't allow the hmd to sit far enough down on my face for a clear image without crushing my nose.

Ah yes, the 4 additional strap ties are there because of the design of the hard hat. You see, that is where it is attached to the hard hat, and if it's not, they are too loose. So I simply used a strap tie to fixate it.

As for the link, I certainly could, but since I'm Swedish I don't think its much use to you, unfortunately.

After using an extra strap to the back of the neck and using the Wii pad the small forehead pad still irritates me after an hour or so especially when most of the weight goes on there if you want to keep it off your nose .
I took the biggest pad , removed the foam quite easily because the pad is glued and fixed the middle piece of an Xbox headset on there with some foam .
All the weight is much better spread on the forehead , my face is closer to the screens making it sharper to the edge and its just above my nose .
Now if my comfort pads arrive the Wii strap will go and I think I'm finished .

get ikea curtain that block the light completly - 100%, then just put it over your head. :P

seriously, i have no issue playing games in sunlight and using the light covers supplied with hmz-t1. no problem focusing on screen only, however, at night it is much better.

Someone sent me this link... Epson 3D headset...

http://www.physorg.com/news/2012-04-...late-inch.html

Doesnt sound like anything that can compete with HMZ since res is only 960x540, but I'm sure someone will be interested in reading about it...

I don`t have any marks from the light blockers as they dont touch my face but if they did i would think they would fall off as they don`t secure to the unit that well .
I have had my unit just over 2 weeks , lots of playing with it to get the best results , focus is not an issue any more , the confort level is for long periods of play so i will try to get this better but i must say this has got better the more i use it and get use to it . I think the 3d is brill , does not lack on pop out where pop out should be .
I have it setup with my Onkyo 609 reciever so changing between pc , ps3 , freeview ect is just the press of a button . i stick with the sound from my reciever as this is far better .
As many have said , when you first get this , you will need to spend time with it , don`t give up to soon .

this is the mod i made last week. very simple mod, requires hard hat, 5 plastic stripes and a piece of transparent tape.

results? no more forehead pressure, and no nose pain. could be improved, but require absolutly no skill to do so. highly recommended, i spent less than 20 eur on it.

yes - pretty useless but still expensive. apart from poor res:

There are no video inputs on the control box, preventing you from playing video from a third-party source, although there is a 3.5mm audio jack which lets you use your own earphones rather than the rather basic ones that come with the headset.

Also - only MPEG-4 with MP3 support for video files!
