i'm using 'center' position.

vaktmestern.. you have just showed that your words doesn't mean much here.
the colors are not vibrant? dude, go to your graphic card panel and adjust color settings.. look for saturation, contrast etc - anything that fits your expectations. my hmz-t1 has colors comparable to my 50" lg plasma - vivid etc, but easier on eyes (ie like in some movies, colors are vivid but human skin turns red).

'Hmz-1 is best describes as the picture u get through a passive 3D like the lg tv.'
passive 3D? that really sucks. pixel grid on hmd is barely visible, and you have to think about it to see it.. otherwise your mind if focus on what is being displayed - not the display itself!

'brightness is disapointing not much light comes out of the oled panels'
i can see your posts in few next years where you will keep saying 'too much brigtnerss coming out of the oled panels, that hurts and burns my eyes!'

'Clear enough, u see sum lines but, when ur used to active shutters its really missing the pop in the picture'
my plasma is active, and now after few months of using hmd and not using active glasses, i'm getting headache and eye strain again (just like when i bought the tv - means brain and eyes have to get used again). 3d gaming on tv sucks - at 1080p most tvs can play at 24hz max, 720p is 60hz - wich is the same as hmd.. but picture coming out is more blurried, more pixelated.

'Most reviews wrote the resolution grid was visible it never scored a full go in any of them
so if its the best screen u seen ... thats worrying'
could u post link to these reviews? i don't care about them, but just want to read them again.

yeah, pixel grid is visible - if you really look for it. it's like with dead pixels - you can have one, but if u aren't really looking for it.. u just ignore it.

hmd is the best 3d and oled atm, 'widely' availabe. if you are not satisfied with 3D pop out etc - look for settings! BF3 has awesome depth by default, but if u want more pop out then you have to use console to change convergence settings.

Dont use a pc to show my movies so thats lill hard..

Reviwes is just to google really, last one i read was from watt magazine and flatpanels.hd

3D is really good on the hmz-1 thats i always been claiming pixel grid is really simple just to use a online calculator n see how large each pixel is in 720p at 150inces

Oleds could been a lilll brighter on the hmz-1 when u see a real oled tv ull notice the diffrence as the hmz-1 is as bright as a older plasma tv

A problem here. I got my blu-ray iso files for a few full version movie. I used daemon lit for mounting iso files. After that since I have powerDVD 11 installed it automatically startes playing the virtual disc movie. Playing starts ok but I see only 2D and no 3D. I tried to turn on 3D in hmz-t1 but there is only side-by-side and O-U options and no "frame packed". Now went to powerDVD 3D setting and saw following options:

display device:
anaglyph
3D-ready HDTV (checkerboard)
HDMI 1.4 enabled 3D TV (1080p 24Hz)
HDMI 1.4 enabled 3D TV (720p 60Hz)
HDMI 1.4 enabled 3D TV (720p 50Hz)
NVIDIA 3D vision ready monitor

I tried HDMI 1.4 options but NVIDIA gives me following message:
"cyberlink powerDVD could not enable 3D playback. Try choosing a different 3D display device"

It does n't matter which HDMI option I choose it gives me this message. when this happens no "frame pack" option in hmz-t1 . Only options are sbs and o/u.

My graphic card on my vaio VGN-Z790 is Geforce 9300M GS

I did all I could but only I see in 2D and 3D not enabled. What am missing here?

i have never heard about these magazines.. but i guess it's an opinion of a single man, working in a random company. don't forget that there was already a lot of people who would simply complain about every single thing, just to diss the idea of hmd. haters gonna hate..

think about it. why brightness is as it is?
i have used my hmd since december last year, i can say i'm using it at least 4-5 times a week, for at least an hour, but sessions like 3-4 hours were not rare. i've been with computers all my life, used all kind of screens and televisions, yet i have eyes so sharp that i have never ever wore glasses, and it didn't decrease my health condition at all - that is something a lot of people thought of. don't forget you have a electronic device, lamp in front of your eyes just few centimeters away. that can be dangerous, right?

i haven't noticed any changes. how about some other users? share your experience?

Don't know. Haven't tried to play just the "blu-ray iso files for a full version movie", I play BD 3D discs. One thing I do know is that when playing BD 3D discs for both Power DVD11 and 12, the play controls are available at the bottom of the screen. When I put the courser over the 3D icon it asks me to "enable 3D" by clicking the mouse. When it is enabled, a blue box surrounds the 3D letters. When putting the cursor over that is asks if I want to "disable 3D" etc. Also, there is a triangle on the right side of the same 3D icon that when pressed produces the "3D Display Configuration window for Power DVD. When the "Display Device" tab is selected, make sure you chose NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready Monitor as the setting instead of the "Auto Detect" selection. That manually forces 3D for me. Regarding the "Source Format" Tab, I chose "Auto Detect" which plays the "frame Packing 3D Blu-ray discs for me. The "General" tab as far as I've discovered is only used for changing 3D depth conversion for 2D sources and also for swapping the L or R eye image when viewing 3D.

Paul

Paul when you use "NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready Monitor" to watch 3D what options do you have inside hmz-t1 and which one you choose?

I dont think its right that people say you cant notice the pixels structure. I could cound every pixel on the screen when I tested battlefield 3. It was very distracting and killed the immersion.

Only three 3D settings are then made available. "3D Display" On = (Selsect 3D display mode), "Auto 3D" On = (Set whether to automatically start 3D display when 3D signal is detected), and "3D Signal Notification" On = (Set Whether or not to notify when 3D signal is detected).

It's not that you can't notice it, it's that they don't notice it. Micro-pixel structure is there similar to a screen door pattern that can sometimes be seen with certain graphic images. When watching movies it becomes virtually invisible for me. Micro-pixels blend in like camouflage where I only see an HD image and it becomes just like looking through a window.

That would be quite exceptional to be able to count the individual microscopic sized pixel with the naked eye where 921,600 micro-pixels are encompassed in a 0.7" micro-sized screen that offers 720p - Total image resolution. As stated above, the screen door pattern can be seen, especially when you're looking for it, with certain graphics as the source.

Not doubting you but it's hard to imagine someone being that sensitive to that small of a micro-sized structure which I base on my experience with it, but evidently it is possible.

Agree with l88bastard as games are prob the worst of showing off the hmz-1 pixel structure, been used to higher end tvs the last years so i do notice faults but i can understand people who never owned anything better than a average hd tv to be impressed. SOny gives a imersive exsperience in 3D that what matters is has it many faults but most can be overlooked and ""forgiven"" of the exsperience it ""total"" gives

GPU means graphic processor unit - basically your graphic card. your graphic card is old and very low end and there is no way it can support 3d playback. this is a reason why you can't check 3d in NVIDIA. NVIDIA list is a list of GPUs which can support 3d - google it. you should look for something like GT540M minimum at our days.

what were your settings? depending on player count, i play on high/custom where most settings are medium and high.

play around with sharpness settings on your hmd. i'm using +5 (out of 6). and there is no pixel grid!

u guys make the hmd look like this (photoshop manipulated):

30% transparency of the pixel grid effect

but it's more like this!

5% transparency

so what the hell are you guys talking about?

I think GeForce 9300M GS well supports 3D. It have a lot of options for 3D adjustments and to me looks ok.

I also tried sony original demo Blu-ray disc which I got for free when I purchased my hmz-t1. I don't have blu-ray player and I borrowed a frined PS3 and when I put the demo in PS3 I saw 3D selection option is not active. Only 2D is active. Demo disc has a lot of 3D clips. What could be the reason even I couldn't be able to watch 3D clips even with PS3? PS3 model number is: CECH-2001A.

with PS3 you should not have problems. However with your GPU I think you can't watch proper frame packed full hd blu ray and probably only SBS or over under. I could not find your card on the list

no to the GeForce 9300m. Try 3 series or higher for 3dTVPlay which is required for the HMZ T1

List is not published by NVIDIA and might be not complete. If my graphic card does not support 3D why PS3 failed playing the original sony 3D blu-ray disc? I have have heard rumors about some PS3 does not support 3D blu-ray disks but I am not sure if this is true about my friends ps3.

Anyway does anyone think it is possible to change my 9300M GS graphic card with one of the cards in the list of the above link?

i don't even it see it as on the bottom picture.. and i just played intense 10vs10 rush battle.

phucking immersive! no time to look for the grid. my statement stays the same. pixel grid does exist, but it's completly invicible, unless you really look for it. it might be more visible when you play on lowest settings, without any antialiasing.

A picture is worth more than a thousand words and a great way to show what is experienced.
IMO, the bottom picture's screen-door-effect pretty much nails-it as to what I'm seeing when I'm looking for the pattern, especially in the sky area.

The top picture IMO, "looks horrible" and is what kixpress was saying people were communicating. The bottom picture is what I see with certain grahics. It becomes camouflaged and invisible to the eye when watching movies, similar to the way the street area and weapons look at the bottom of the bottom picture.

this is just a photoshop manipulation.
i agree that on bottom pic, grid is visible on sky area.. but only on the picture! no such effect when it's on your head.

we can keep talking about this for hours, but i guess the only way to find the truth is try it yourself.. play around with sharpness settings.

Well wasnt i right ... Pixles dont bother me 2 much on games i havent playd before on a better screen ,wicher2 i couldt stand on the hmz-1 as it really was awful looking vs the lg oled

Well this got me more inspired of continuing my modding on the hmz-1 into a more easly used gaming/movie device...

pixel doesn't bother you anymore?
then what's your problem with hmd?
thought 'really awfull' was the pixel grid.. and i just opened the 2 screens i posted before in fullscreen on my hmd - i can clearly see the pixel grid from photoshop, but not the real grid!

what's so awfull with witcher 2 on hmd?
