If the old TV mantra is true, and bigger is better, than TCL has suddenly become the best. Overnight, the Chinese manufacturer unveiled the China Star', the largest LCD TV in the world, according to CEO Li Dongshen.

Measuring 110 inches (279.4 centimetres) diagonally, China Star is a Full HD 16:9 3D LED LCD TV. It has a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 120 hertz refresh rate.

The successful launch of the world's largest 110-inch screen once again proved TCL's research and development capabilities, said Li Dongsheng.

Not only will TCL benefit from the development of this breakthrough technology, all TV manufacturers in China and overseas will be able to capitalize on this revolutionary product design.

The new star in China: TCL's 110-inch TV.

The first to truly benefit from this design is the Great Hall of the People in Beijing: TCL is donating the first two China Star models to this building, which is the country's equivalent of a parliament house.

TCL used this opportunity to highlight China's emergence in the flat panel display manufacturing industry. One of the guests at the launch, Gu Zhihua, director of the flat panel display centre at Fudan University, said rivals South Korea and Japan should watch their backs.

China will replace Japan and South Korea as the world leader in TV display screens in terms of manufacturing and research and development in 3-to5five years, and will provide a higher level of quality and more cost-effective products to the global community, he said.

Interesting how they state "China will replace Japan and South Korea as the world leader in TV display screens in terms of manufacturing and research and development in 3 to 5 years." As if Japan and South Korea will lay on their laurels or roll over and play dead till that day comes ...
