The Oculus Rift HMD is expected to start crowd funding through Kickstarter by June 14th. The target price is $500. John Carmack of Id is demoing the Oculus Rift HMD with Doom 3 BGF at E3 this year and people are apparently impressed. ComputerandVideogames.com says:
Quote:
After just ten minutes of Doom 3 with Carmack’s future-goggles on, we were truly blown away. Blocking out all other stimuli from the room, they offer an amazing degree of visibility and control within the 3D space. Perhaps the weirdest part of our hands-on was when we had to remove the headset and return to the bland reality of the interview room. It was a surreal, sharply sobering moment. Even after such short period of time within the game, we found ourselves entirely absorbed; a gaming experience with a level of immersion genuinely unlike anything else we have ever encountered.

And PC Gamer:
Quote:
Our video wizard David Boddington used it to play Doom 3: BFG Edition and loved it. “The level of immersion was unlike any other gaming experience I’ve ever had, and that bodes well for the future if Carmack or someone else can take the tech to the next level.”

I've compiled the interview at the link below. It's a good watch if you're into VR or HMDs, John Carmack clearly knows what he's talking about!

1 pixel per monster. Cool. That will be a totally immersive attack by a giant pixel.

Yes the resolution is low, but pretty much everyone that has tried the setup has said that it's the most immersive experience they've ever had playing games. Once a suitable panel becomes available at a reasonable price, it will be trivial to upgrade to 1080p (960x1080 effective) or beyond to get the resolution you want.

Sorry but I can't find resolution info.

What 's resolution in demo exactly?

seem cool and better than HMZ and ST1080P would get it once it available for public buyer.
