Currently have a LN52A650 but looking to upgrade to a bigger 3D TV. I'm unsure between LED or Plasma for now, looking at 60" but would probably go for a 55" if a good deal. I generally watch movies and sports.

Here are a few TV's I'm looking at, would like to keep it between $1,000 and $1,500. I've heard good things about the 60PM6700 but not sure about Plasma and Active 3D. I'd appreciate any advice, models to avoid, or models not on my list I should check out. Thanks!

LED

Samsung UN55EH6070

LG 55LM6700

LG 55LM6200

Toshiba 55L6200U

Plasma

Samsung PN60E550

LG 60PM6700

Panasonic TC-P60ST50

I am in the same boat...was going to pull the trigger Black Friday on the LG 55LW6500, but supply suddenly dried up. I like passive 3D concept. Since Xmas we now have a 32-in Panasonic IPS LCD HDTV...we love it. So believe you should probably add Panasonic 55ET5 to your list. Recent reviews on Amazon are quite good. I am mystified at the lack of ET5 discussion here (maybe I just don't know where it is). The ET5 is Panasonics first LED/LCD passive 3D set.

If you are a gamer The ET5 is no good. It has horrible Lag. It's not as bad as some but it's not good either. From my tests. The ET5 does have a good picture, the passive 3d is good. I believe it shares the same panel as most other
passive 3d sets. LG seems to be the main maker of these passive 3d panels. Although AUO is making some now as well.

OK thanks I am not a gamer but might want to be gamer friendly....not sure.
When you say "share the same panel as LG" what component is the panel? I assumed Panny has its own front glass for the IPS wide viewing angle effect?

...I take it back we do have a Wii for mild gaming

I heard that when in game mode the response is 25ms which is quite reasonable.
Gaming in 3D mode would increase lag if you are using the tv to do the 3d processing.
The way around that if gaming on PC, which I am, is to leave the tv in 2d mode and transmit a 1080 interleaved signal @60hz to the tv via 3dvision using the acer or zalman driver hack.
That gives you 3d by utilizing the passive filter on the screen without needing to put the tv in to 3d mode.

I am waiting for another 70 to 75 inch passive 3D TV to come out. I am chomping at the bit at replacing my 65 inch Mits. However, I want a TV I can wall mount, I want 3D and I want passive. I have almost jumped at a couple 55 inch TV's but I can't do it. I can go smaller.

Wash:"This landing is gonna get pretty interesting."

Mal:"Define "interesting."

Wash:"Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?!"

Kaylee:"Goin' on a year now I ain't had nothin' twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries!

Mal:"Oh, God! I can't *know* that!"

Jayne:"I could stand to hear a little more."

Why no Vizio 3D TVs? Are they not good? I need something 65" or more to replace my old Mits DLP.

If the OP is in the same boat as me, the reflective screen on the Vizio is not acceptable.

Highly-reflective screen or not, for a 65" passive 3D TV, I have a hard time justifying paying twice as much for an LG (i.e., $3,600 versus $1,800) which may have slightly less glare.

My room has serious light issues including direct sunlight, so glare is a concern.
