They are VERY uncomfortable to me as well. You can try these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-5-Pairs-.../310982706824?
but you need to make some slots in glasses with dremel or something or just use glue

I'll give them a try, seem cheap enough to risk, Cheers for the advice.

I got the G15's to test. They seem to work well. These are the only glasses which my 3 year old can wear.

Are there any new favorites? Seems like most of the ones that are highly rated and affordable were in old posts and the glasses are no longer available.

I have the BenQ W1070 and I am thinking about getting 2 pairs of the best sub $50 glasses I can find for myself and my wife and 2-4 pairs of the best sub $30 glasses I can find for the kids and guests. Any recommendations?

Hi Guys- I just got some Estar glasses - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I put in Avatar and set to play 3d. Then turned on the Benq to 3d on, frame pack and it looks like blurred crap. I tried all the other settings on the Benq and couldn't get a clear, good looking picture.

What could I be missing? We had two pairs of glasses going. Tried turning them on and off etc. with no luck.

Have you tried refocusing your lens? Can you try other glasses and see if the problem is still there...?
What is the model is it: ESG601. Is the 3D setting on your projector inverted?

Why do you need to put the BenQ to 3d. It should automatically detect the 3d disc and switche it automatically. What 3d player are you using?

Not sure if this is possible and you probably already checked...but I ordered some sunglasses online a few months ago and had the same problem, it turned out there was a film on both sides of the lens to prevent it being scratched or anything during shipping. Is there maybe a film on the lenses?

I'm not sure what was going on. I topped off the glasses with a charge, updated the BD player firmware, shut everything off then on again and it worked as it should. I had to do nothing. It was all automatic.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

problem

hello,

i have bought a benq w1070 projector last week but I only had the time to get a pair of 3d glasses today from NCIX. these are the ones I have:

http://www.ncix.com/detail/benq-144h...94400-1537.htm

the problem is however that I cannot get them to work. After I got home I assumed that they would sell fully charged so I tried to turn them on and the LED beside the power button flashed green briefly but the glasses didn't work. so i thought that they would need to be charged and I plugged them into the ps3 and left them charging for a little longer than 2 hours. now the LED beside the usb port is red and not blinking. when I try to turn them on the LED beside the button turns green for a brief second but the 3d still doesn't work. if then I hold the button for another 3 seconds it blinks green 3 times but again nothing happens with the image. so far whatever I tried has not been working so far. Any ideas what the problem could be? Since I have 2 pairs it's hard to believe that both would be defective.

this is my setup:

projector: http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=055286
3d glasses: http://www.ncix.com/detail/benq-144h...94400-1537.htm
screen: http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=063919

any ideas? thanks in advance

I just got my pair of the Estar ESG601 3d glasses. Best dlp link glasses that I have tried. I own several other brands mentioned in this thread but these are superior. Here's what I've found:

1) Greatly reduced ghosting. The only time a see faint ghosting is when playing 3d games with a black screen with a small bright area on it.

2) Sync. I haven't lost sync once yet. The other glasses I would lose sync at least a few times in each movie.

3) Flicker. To me this one is huge since I play 3d games with my pc. Usually I can only play for 2 hours and my eyes get tired. With the Estar it's like I'm not even wearing 3d glasses as far as eye strain goes. One little test is turning on a cfl light bulb with the glasses on. With other glasses you can see flicker. With the Estar I can't. I watched a 2 hour 3d movie then played various 3d video games for 4 more hours and didn't get eye fatigue that I noticed.

The comfort is fine. The brightness is average. The only negative I noticed initially were reflections. Just don't have anything that reflects light behind you. If you are watching a projector you probably don't want reflective surfaces in your room anyway.

I highly recommend these glasses especially if you are a heavy 3d user.

So just how uncomfortable are the G15 3D glasses? They seem like a nice bargain, but I don't want something that feels obtrusive. The last few posts make it seem like these are difficult to wear. Has the forum come to a consensus on these at all? Considering you can buy three of these for the price of one Estar it's certainly worth looking into.

For the price they are great. You can make the move comfortable if you are creative.

I wear them over prescription glasses and have no problem. I don't think I would watch back to back 3D movies however. It doesn't make sense to me to spend more per pair as I require 6 sets. At $50 or more per pair buying other glasses would be 30 percent or more of the cost of the projector.

How would one make these more comfortable? What type of creativity are you referencing?

Between the following the three options, which would you recommend for me?

  • Dimensional Optics A1S01323
  • True Depth Firestorm XL
  • Estar ESG601

They all seem to be reviewed favorably around here and sit at around the same price range. Out of these three, I'm just looking for glasses with the least dark lenses that cover the most of my field of view.

I'm trying to buy new 3D glasses as well. If money wasn't an issue which glasses do you guys think are the best.

I was gonna go for these:
BenQ 5J.J7L25.002 BenQ 144hz DLP Link 3D Glasses

Like McSweeney my most important criteria are: Least darkest and cover the most field of view. Also no ghosting and flicker are good to have too!

So are the BenQ 4th gen the best if price wasn't an issue?

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give a quick update about a company that I just dealt with: XPand. While they were short on information sometimes, they did something pretty awesome for me: they made a custom firmware so that the DLP-Link glasses can operate in dual-view gaming mode. What this means for me specifically is that my gf, who can't watch 3D, can switch the glasses to either Left-eye only or Right-eye only and watch without discomfort. The glasses weren't as cheap as others have been talked about, but they're battery-powered (2032 or whatever those little guys are) and come with several nose pieces. They also block the red-flash and seem really well put-together. I think a good experience with a company deserves some recognition, so I'm putting this here and in the main BenQ W1070 thread.

Here's to good 3D!!!
