Oh, guess you are talking about reversing sync. That can happen still. Mine were actually losing sync, where you would see a double image and that's the problem that is fixed.

This is bad that everyone needs to wait so long for these expensive 3d glasses to come out.
My order on MacMall is back-ordered for weeks! This stinks!

Can at least any state as to whether the 3d is any good on Benq w1070? Is it worth the wait?

The 3d is awesome! I actually only use this pj for 3d as I have another projector (jvc rs40) for 2d. Just buy the cheap Sainsonic glasses or the 3dtv corp (heard these are better than Sainsonic) from eBay and start having fun! Sometimes people over think things too much here.

Which ones exactly? I don't want to get the wrong or bad ones.

Thanks!!

Yes.But a number of people find that the Sainsonics can loose L/R sync and do not block out red tint on blacks. But they do work. Currently, the Benq D3 glasses provide the best results, but they are $80 and are currently out of stock everywhere.

Wonder if there is any chance they will introduce a breakout transmitter for this projector and turn off DLP Link so we can use those $20 samsung RF glasses... seems DLP link is a huge problem what with the additional need to block out a red flash...

Shoot yeah forgot about 144hz...

I'm torn because I would love to go 3D PJ at some point in the near future but the idea of accomodating 6 (and realistically 8 or more) viewers at $50-100 a pop is daunting... especially on glasses that I would imagine are near the end of their lifespan (RF glasses seem to be the obvious way of the future as long as glasses are involed)

What do you think of them?

This is the Benq J3925 in my mini-review. I will let my kids use them as they're very comfortable and lightweight, and most importantly, won't lose L/R sync.

Actually it probably woudln't...

I still use my 3D TV for about 50% 3D Viewing (more if you count using the 2D-3D conversion). Most of the time I put it on just normal 2D is for background noise (which I actaully do a lot so I am not counting that time as I am not relaly watching it).

I really want the 3D PJ for 3D movie night and 3D gaming (mostly GT5 and maybe some PC games).

I think for the vast majority of "nomral" viewing time (like rerun tv series on netflix or watch the news) I would be back on the normal TV...

That said, I am the kind of person who hates knowing that it's not he best it could be... even if I am only doing 3D 5% of the time, I want that to be great.

I already have a decent 2D PJ so this would literally be a move to get 3D so I would want the 3D to be sullied...

I agree too. In the world of home theater, return of investment is very subjective. Say, the Benq D3 is one of the most expensive sets yet it may very well be the best set for the W1070 picture-quality-wise. Most people (including myself) would be willing to pay the extra and go for it, as my philosophy is almost a complete opposite to maximizing ROI: if I'm going to watch 3D content on this projector only 5% of the time, why do I settle for less quality?

Just buy the cheap $25 glasses for everyone else and the expensive good one for yourself. That's what I'm doing. Have already spent way too much on 3d glasses already. Plus most people won't even notice or care about the difference.

By the way, I just ordered a pair of True Depth glasses. Dann said they will work. I'll report back when I get them.

That would be great. I've had much better success with ir and rf. Unfortunately these pj's are going away from including a vesa port.

So, which glasses are the best ones to get out of these right now (or you can suggest others):

THESE DLP LINK Glasses :

These ones by Sainsonic

Or these Truecolor ones

It's interesting I go the opposite way... if I have guests over they get the best equipment and best seating... my rational is that this is a treat for them and they should get to fully enjoy it. I can watch it from center seat with the good glasses anytime.

I always hate it when someone comes over and doesn't get the good treatment... I always feel like they then go home thinking "meh that 3D stuff is gimicky... didn't look very 3D, colors weren't pretty and it just didn't look so good". I want them to go home and think "Holey sh*t... that was better than the theater..."

I guess if I am going to bother setting it up so lots of people can enjoy it, I am going to try and do it right for them... otherwise I would just do it right for me and let them worry about it for themselves.

The problem for me is I am not quite exactly like that... while I would rather have the expensive high quality ones than the cheap low quality ones, I would more likely just wait it out and skip it all together until an above average solution at a modest price comes along...

Just like this w1070... not the best of the best of 3D projectors, but it seems so very much worth the cost... except when you start factoring in $100 a pair glasses... then the overall value drops and I have to start thinking about what other options provide a better solution for the same overall cost (I consider overall cost of a 3D PJ to be viewing for 6 at least)

Tonight I tested a BETA set from TrueDepth and confirmed that it worked at 144Hz! I've updated my review above.

So at roughly 60% the cost of the Ben Q they seem to be the clear way to go...

That is very good news about the True Depths! The people at True Depth seem to be the must on top of things when it comes to 3d. You pay a little more but also get more so that results in the beat value.

I don't either but many of my guests do. Well once I see how good the True Depths are I might have to get a couple more. The Sainsonics really suck in dark scenes. Or should I say dark red scenes.

kelvink,

Speaking of the colorshifts on the True Depths, did you try the red permanent marker on the sensor? That was the issue I had with the Sainsonics that were eliminated with the red permanent marker.

They are good enough for 99.9% of the population. Overall they are fine. I have 8 pairs!

You can get the True Depths through Ebay. Just make sure to request the newest version which is compatible with the W1070 at 144hz.

Email Daniel of TrueDepth. For 6 pairs you should be able to get a discount. Sainsonics aren't reliable and not worth the money, imo.
