Hello, just got the KDL-70R550A last night and although my previous (non 3d) was mounted higher on wall, I kind of like the 70 set just on its stand. Based on the reflection of my head on the TV in the pic is this going to be okay to get desired effects of 3D viewing or in your opinion should I mount a little higher. (Can't test yet because my reciever won't be here until 18th but I get my klipschs in sooner so going to mount center channel above tv if staying in the configuration.) I'm from 9.5-10 ft on viewing distance. Thanks for your thoughts.
It looks fine the way it is- if it were me I wouldn't mount it. I never understood the appeal of mounting a TV near the ceiling unless it is in a sports bar. Your set should be directly in front of you from a seated position - you shouldn't have to look up. For passive 3-D, this is a must, otherwise you will have issues.
If you mount it higher up, you'll have to tilt it down, of course, to get it square-on from your viewing position. That will mean you can't sit much further away or closer than the seated viewing distance you set it for, when watching 3D. A few feet either way from your viewing distance would be okay.
I have an LG 65LW6500, and the vertical viewing angle is rather narrow. If I can see my reflection near the top or bottom edge of the screen, that's mighty close to the limit. Sony is using LG panels for their 3D passive TVs, AFAIK.
