Optoma ZH400UST Projector

Optoma this month started selling a new laser-phosphor projector that looks like it would be great for 3D.

Here is the spec sheet at projector central:
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-ZH400UST.htm

Some things that look good: 4,000 ANSI lumens, 100,000:1 contrast, and 20,000 hour lamp life (full power and eco modes).

Too bad it isn't 4K.

Looks promising. As for 4k, 3D will never be 4k since there is no spec for 4k and probably never will be. So a 4k projector simply uses more pixels to create one 3D pixel. That said, a lot of us have "learned" that a good 1080p projector can create phenomenal 3D, and with 4000 lumens and 100,000:1 (don't believe it ;o)), it could be excellent. But, and it's a big but, if you don't need the 4000 lumens (think really, really big screen), then I would opt for the Optoma HD29DARBEE, which I just bought that has 3,200 lumens and 30,000:1 contrast, plus a DARBEE video processor that makes 3D look amazing. Regardless, wait until some reviews show up as $3k for a 1080p projector is still a lot of dough. I also tried the Epson faux K 5040UB and 3D was very problematic on this projector because of crosstalk, so I sent it back.

Thanks for the recommendation on the HD29DARBEE. I will look into it.
