Make that closer to $700 (extra battery, SDHC class 10 card, mini-HDMI cable). But it's pretty cool. The stills look awesome on my PNC7000, although I'm still learning framing and composition and parallax (and to keep my fingers away from the lenses, which is harder than I thought it would be). The video is disappointing, as others have noted. It really doesn't look like 720p. And until I dig my tripod out of whatever closet it's in, I can't keep the camera still enough which makes the video look even worse.

So after a few hours, I'd give it five stars for 3D stills, two stars for 3D video.

2 stars for video may not be enough for me. Although I look forward to shooting stills in 3D, I'm more interested in video. Even though the Panasonic camcorder is a lot more ($1,400, I think), I might go that route if the Fuji's video is very poor. Any way you can post a clip or two? A few seconds is fine. It would give me a much better idea of what to expect. I've almost ordered the Fuji several times now, but I'm still waffling. I would always use a tripod, so if you can post some clips, please post ones shot from a stable platform. And something of moving subjects, like cars passing by, would be very revealing.

I'm uploading 15 3D photos and 3 720p 3D videos I've taken since getting the camera for you guys.

The pictures will have two RAR files: one will be the raw MPO files output by the camera and the other are photos auto adjusted in SPM.

The videos are: a video of my dog outside in daylight playing with a tennis ball and two videos of japanese hibachi from my dinner a couple nights ago. All three are raw AVI files from the camera with no adjustments or conversions.

I'll post the links tomorrow.

Thanks for the review. I've read in other forums that the video compression for the W3 is less than stellar. But .. for the pricepoint, I'm still considering it.

This is a good 3D still camera, but it's a half-assed 3D video camera with a lot of limitations (one interesting limit is 4GB file sizes, which according to the manual means every 10 minutes or so it will stop recording for a few seconds to close the file and open a new one). So my advice is if what you really want is 3D video, buy a 3D video camera. They may cost three times as much, but they'll be three times (or more) better.

This one was posted one of my fave Youtube 3D channels:

3D Walkthrough into Kobe Streets, shot on Fuji W3 with a simple stabilizer

While waiting for the PS3 3D youtube update, you can download the youtube video for example with this nice plugin for FireFox http://www.flashvideodownloader.org and watch from usb stick.

I'd like to check out your lantern pic on my Mits 65737. Can you tell me the best way to go about viewing it? Do you think I can stream it to my ps3 and view it that way? I can't figure how to get it to show thru the Mits adapter.

I am finally getting my new toy collection together. I have the Mitsubishi adapter for my 73736 with the new W3 camera. I plugged the camera directly into the adapter to see the few pictures I could take on the internal memory (about 6, still waiting on a new class 6 card). I was pretty disappointed with the result. The camera was set to normal 3D output running through the appropriate HDMI connection into the adapter. The images were very dark and grainy. The 3D effect was very intense (not pleasant). I saw in the manual that they said not to even view on TV's larger that 65 inches... I was getting nervous and decided to copy the pictures over to my laptop and display them in StereoPhotoMaker outputing checkerboard and bypassing the Mitsubishi adapter. The result was very nice. The image separation was appropriate and the colors were much brighter. I hope I only ran into a limitation of the camera trying to push an HD signal out. I hope to use my Playstation 3 as my 3D hub when it gets all of its updates. I have may fingers crossed that it will natively support MPO files and display them correctly.

I love the camera,
But when i record 720 3d video i only get 20-30 sec of video before it stops...
The screen times shows 11m23s...?

it would be cool if 3d blurays could be ripped and and convert to play on the camera and or some hack to use the screen as a tiny 3d monitor.

i would love to see some ps3 3d games/demo video that could be played on it to see how the 3d ps3 games would look.

did any one pick up a 3d picture frame yet? i hope there will be one that plays the hd video.

Format the SD card in the camera. I've heard of users experiencing problems with video until they did this. I've formatted all of mine and have had no problems.

what brand and spec of sdhc are you using?
i have a 16GB transcend class 6.

formated it, the best i get before it stops is about 1min of 3d 720p video 400MB+

I guess what i have is too generic....

Sandisk Class 10 Extreme in 16GB and 8GB.

I would agree that you most likely have a bad memory card (not up to specs or something).

If you have the money I highly recommend the Sandisk cards I have.

I found and downloaded a very good 7 minute+/-
3D video of a Parade that was done on a Fuji W3.

I thought the 3D was quite good. Look for

"Pixar Play Parade - Fuji W3.mp4" under mixed S3D Video at:

You should be able to use Stereo Movie Maker to create 3D AVIs:

thanks for the links

I download 3d samples from here
http://www.biohemmet.se/blandade3dvideosihd.php

convert samples from above with total-video-converter to a usable avi fomat. Stereo Movie Maker can import.
http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-vi...rter/index.htm

i used this to convert files from above to the need fuji w3 format in 720p.
Stereo Movie Maker
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/

I got some great clips to work, but some will not play on the fuji no matter what, ill post more details later.

I am trying to port a full 3d movie to watch on the fuji w3.
when ever i try to convert a longer video with Stereo Movie Maker the fuji camera will give an error and not play.

based on the 4GB limit i can get about 15-20 min of converted 720 p video.
i have converted 10min clips and that is about 1.2GB.

if i use vlc to check the media details ill see this for files that do work.

under Stream 0 and 2
"Description: FUJIFILM AVI STREAM 0200"

and what is listed for videos that dont work on the fuji w3

under Stream 0 and 2
"Description: Video #1"

any one else doing the same? if so any luck and what are you using?

Make sure you are not in interval 3D shooting. You want to be on the picture of the red camera.

Has anybody tried importing 3D pics from the W3 and loading them into the Sony pS3 using a 3D photo album program like "Play Memories" on the PS3?

Yea, I exchanged it at Best Buy. Waiting on the replacement. I was able to load .MPO files onto my PS3 and view them with the PlayMemories program. I didn't know if was out there. I was waiting for another software update for 3D pic support. It is very slick. The only problem is that it does it's own auto separation and complains about some of the pictures if something is too close. It will ask if you want to view in 2D instead. You can force 3D, but it doesn't come in full screen by default. I didn't see a way to over ride this. The joysticks allow you to pan and zoom on the 3D pictures and they look terrific. I need to figure out a way if you can stream pictures from a computer to this application instead of copying everything on the PS3.

I just got this camera. Can't believe how good the built-in display is in showing 3D. Even though I heard it was good, I didn't expect that. Tonight going to look at some pics through the Mits TV.
