I want to use my PS3 to playback side-by-side videos on a 3Dtv at Best Buy (I don't own one myself). They are in a codec/container compatible with the PS3 so there are no problems there, but I was just wondering if the TV is going to accept the input as 3D? I'm just unfamiliar with the functionality of these sets, if it's like a standard function to accept side-by-side like this without needing any special kind of flag or signature. Also, does it work with all inputs or just HDMI? Do they have aspect ratio control?

My Videos

A movie with good 3D does not necessarily equal a good 3D movie!

The video will likely show up as a split screen image. If you have the mitsubishi 3da-1 adapter hooked up, you can force the image into SbS and it will display 3D correctly.

But likely, you're showing it on a TV that doesn't use the 3da-1. The problem is that the PS3 currently doesn't recognize 3D video or photo (games only until Oct). AFAIK theres nothing out there right now that can force a proper SbS image except the 3da-1

that is wrong . The ps3 will recoginzie 3d files on an external hard drive or thumb drive and play them back. It just cant playback files on blurays yet. It wont recognize files that have 3d playback resolutions greater then 1080p. for some great 3d video to playback on your ps3 go to www.biohemmet.se Dont download the ones greater then 1080p resolution. I save em on my external hard drive and they play back fine.

@white_worm: Does that require a compatible DLP tv? If not, I could see it being kind of useful for, say, using my laptop as a 3D playback device even though it's not one. Am I on the right track?

@golferbradbest: Thanks for the clarification about the PS3. And that goes for videos on the internal HDD too, I assume.

P.S. Thanks for the link!

I have a Samsung pn58c8000 and I am able to just plug a thumb drive or portable hard drive into the TV and play the videos. Hit the 3d button on the remote, select the middle icon and the tv will combine the images. THANKS FOR THE WEBSITE

Thanks for the link. I downloaded Clash Titans, but can't get it to play on my Mits DLP thru the adapter and PS3. It just looks like a side by side image. It stated 1920/1080. Is that too big, or do I have a different issue?

Did you press the 3D mode button on your adapter?

good suggestion, but yes, I did after a few minutes. It changed the way the image looked, but it wasn't watchable. Doesn't the ps3 need the new update to display 3d video?

I downloaded some files from that site on my flash drive but none will show on my ps3. Simply says no files found.
3d games play fine, though. I have a samsung hlt 6187 with the mits and gefen kit.

Me too. Games play fine on the ps3, and Directv 3d plays great on my DLP tv. I just can't download anything from the web and get it to play. I've been trying lots of different things. Hopefully things will improve a lot when the ps3 update comes on Tuesday.

Will those 3D trailers that I can download from this website work on my VT25 if I just copy the trailer to a USB key and put that key into one of the USB slots on my Panasonic VT25?

Not sure, the videos are SBS, and either avi's, mpg's or ts files.

some are recorded in too high a resolution. I think only the 1910 by 1080 or less videos will play.

My apologies for bring up a 2 year old thread but I see a response wasnt given about the missing files on the flash drive. You may have gotten your answer so far but in case anyone new is having an issue simply press triangle on the usb drive in your video section of the ps3 and click display all. It will show all folders and any videos. Again my apologies for bumping an old thread, just really wanted to help with something I figured out.
