The Panasonic Service Center in TX can not fix my DMP-BDT350, so they are sending me a new unit when one comes in. That has been over five weeks so far. Most people tell me it is discontinued - is that so?

Many retailers show this as a discontinued item. The DMP-BDT300 is identical except for DLNA. THE DLNA was never implemented well on this model. It could not even handle MP3s. In Europe they ony sell the 300 model but the 300 model comes with DLNA, so it is equivalent to the 350.

The US Web site also list DLNA only as a feature on the 350 and not on the 300.

Just curious what happened to your player? I have a BDT300 and hope I'll get at least a few years on it.

Since the models are identical Panasonic could add DLNA to the 300 model via a firmware upgrade.

I think your assumption that all of the internal chips and other electroninc components are exactly the same and that there is enough unused firmware memory space left in the 300 to just make a firmware change to add DLNA is probably not valid.

Since all the Europe 300 models have DLNA and the 350 in the US does it would appear they have the same similar circuitry. It would be puzzling if for a $30 MSRP price difference Panasonic would design different hardware between the 300 and 350. Also if the hardware was different why would they be discontinuing the 350 so rapidly?

You could be correct and if they never implement DLNA on the 300 US models we will never know.

Anybody in Indiana? there are three BDT300's being cleared for 250.00 and they won't let internet sales to this deal. If anybody is willing to walk in the store and grab a couple and send one to me in Los Angeles I would be putty in your hands. Of course I would pay you for the trouble no doubt.
