Must be the karma.

I enjoy 3D in spite of HDMI 1.4!

Chris,

Do you know what the expected battery life is for the JVC?

Apparently, the upcoming Sony camera will last 20 minutes with the supplied battery.

The manual says 55 minutes 3D recording with 3D display or 1 hour and 20 minutes 2D recording using the standard BN-VF815E battery.

You can also purchase an optional BN-VF823E battery which ups that to 1 hour 20 minutes 3D recording/3D display or 1 hour 55 minutes 2D recording.

GregK The first accessory you will want to get for your camcorder regardless of make is a spare battery. Most manufacturers have several run time capacity batteries to select from. Pick the right ammo for your weapon based on your shooting style. I carry 4 smaller size batteries to keep the camera weight low and one large maximum size for those long recording times.

This video camera comes out today here in Japan Late this afternoon (Japan time that is) I shall be the proud owner of one Plan to grab one after my work. I am choosing the JVC over the Sony for a few reasons.

1. Battery Life is longer on the JVC
2. Has more manual controls that can be used in 3D mode
3. The lens seems much better than Sony
4. Can take 3D still photos
5. 3D time lapse

I'll review it after I fool around with it a bit.

My goal in buying this is to make 3D scenery movies of cool places here in Japan.

3D items I own:

Sony 46" LX900 active 3D set

Sony HMZ-T3 (Cushion pads and light blocker mod)

LG LW6500 passive 3D set

PS3 & PS4

Sony BDP-S570 BD3D player

JVC-GS-TD1 (with Cyclopital base extender)

Fujifilm W3

Sony Alpha 55 (for 3D panoramic photos)

Quadcopter + Zenmuse and GoPro Hero 3 (Filming...

I now have this video camera sitting next to be charging I went out and picked it up today, as it just came out here in Japan. Much smaller than I was thinking. I have seen it before not long ago, but it was not very close up.

You can watch a video of me opening the box showing whats included here on this site, http://blazin3d.freeforums.org

Once I fool around with it I shall make a video review informing everyone how it is, and possibly try to post some 3D video samples (if I can figure out how to post large video files for all to download)
Gosh I feel so special, I was the first ever to make a video review of the Sony LX-900 3D TV (had it long before anyone else) and now I'm the first to video this camera (well... that is the first to actually own it and film it) Probably will be the first to review it also I'm such a little ginny pig!

I'd be interested in hearing about its low light and 3D still photo capabilities. :-)

Bravia3D, Looking forward to your testing of the new camera. I'm jealous! I would appreciate it if you could test out and give your opinion of the on screen parallax adjustment.
This is something I haven't heard that the Sony cam has available. Should be able to create the pop-out effect with this. Have fun shooting!

Hi guys, was fooling around with this video camera yesterday. I haven't messed around enough yet to give a review, but I have filmed some 3D video around my home and outside. The 3D quality is pretty good, even in low light. I took it outside when it was very cloudy and the 3D was still great.

Last night I got curious, stepped out on my balcony and checked to see if it can shoot 3D in the dark. To my surprise, it kinda did. I shot the large apartment building next door with all it's light on, some houses and street lights. Put it on my TV and sure enough, it captured all in 3D. However the very dark scenes showed a bit of distortion, but nothing serious.

I shall mess around with it much more today (if the weather is alright) and then try to review it. I would love to post some sample 3D videos but have no clue how to post such large files for everyone to download. If someone can tell me how I'd be more than happy to.

I haven't had a lot of experience working directly with JVC cameras, but I remember being struck by how good some of the pro-JVC's low-light capabilities have been in the past. Of course, that's ancient history (from the SD-only days). One of my ex-students demoed a pro JVC camera for me in a dark room, and it was like daytime - and shockingly noise free. That's not terribly relevant, I know, to today's gear, but hearing your report doesn't surprise me that much, given the history.

alk3997, you might have to join in order to view all topics. The JVS is under the 3D Cameras & Video Cameras section.

Sadly everyone the weather has been pretty bad here. Just woke up, it's 6am... Was hoping to drive to the Sea Aquarium and shoot some 3D. But, wouldn't you know.. We are having a snow storm. Looks like I will have to wait a bit longer.

Why not shoot some 3D video of the snowstorm.
Mine looks pretty cool in 3D.

Today I had a very long day, even though it was snowing like crazy I drove to the sea aquarium and shot tons of 3D video and took pix as well. The JVC video camera worked great, hoping the videos all look good. I just now got home, pretty tired.. Was stuck in so much traffic for over 5 hours on the way back. I'm gonna watch the videos tomorrow, and will let you guys know how they are. Also will try to post some on youtube and work on my review of this nice video camera.

Thank you, bravia3D. All of us are waiting for your review and you videos and photos. Good shots with your camcorder. I'm sure you will be very happy!

In the meantime, anyone can watch another one video from rafuranbo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BouzjS0XOM

I suppose it has taken with jvc GS-TD1, as rafuranbo promised this in his last video with panasonic HDC-TM650. You can see it:

Hello once again everyone, it's 6:30am here in Japan. I'm wide awake and so excited! This is crazy but I could hardly sleep and wait to get up and watch the 3D videos I took yesterday. I have already watched a few while sitting here drinking my coffee and I have one word, AMAZING!! The video quality on this camera is great and talk about true 3D, holy cow the pop-out is jaw dropping! I am one 100% satisfied JVC customer. I fooled around with alot of functions, so late today I will write up a review if I can and get into details about this great cam.

I believe there is a company there in Tokyo that will export video gear to the U.S. (Japan Direct or something like that.) After reading your review the early adopters on this forum might be tempted to grab one now without waiting until their April U.S. availability. If one had a wedding or graduation scheduled before U.S. availability, the extra $500 would be worth it.

You have got to schedule a day at Tokyo Disneyland. 3D shots of Mickey and his friends would be great.

bravia3d: I really appreciate your enthusiasm, but so far it's all talk. This is site for sharing. Having to join you web page list to view your info or videos should be unecessary. I for one am not going to add my name and e-mail address to something I know nothing about. And now you tell us you want to sell the videos. Please, literally, put up your info and videos or, ahem, ...

respectfully,
