I have a Samsung A800B DLP projector!

Will this work with the projector too? The new Samsung projector A8000 is basicly the A800b plus 3D (the Glasses and emitter are the same like in the set).

Does anybody know or can ask a samsung?

I believe a projector does not use checkerboard for 3D. The adapter only outputs checkerboard.

I already have the glasses so I am waiting for the adapter only. Any word on when Mitsubishi is going to sell this by itself?

I have a Sammy HL67A750 DLP and a PS3, and after reading all these forum messages I'm still confused as to what is the simplest, cheapest way for me to get 3D on my TV. Any response to help a non-geek get through this will be most appreciated.

If you just want 3D bluray, the cheapest Panasonic 3D bluray player will get you there.
It is the only player to directly support the checkerboard style of 3D playback that these sets use.

Amazon has the 3DC-100S - 3D Starter Pack for $250. It would seem to me since it comes wit 2 pair of glasses this would be the easiest/cheapest route. Right?

Yes, $30 is a great deal.
As long as it doesn't screw up your $1500 DLP set or laptop display.

For just blurays, a $100 panny is MUCH safer.

What glasses are you using? Are the expand dlp glasses as good as the ones that use the emitter? I want to go 3d without buying a new tv right now. All I'm interested in is Blu-ray right now.

Has anyone been able to get 3DC-100S in Canada? I haven't been able to find a source that ships to Canada yet.

The Expand glasses work just as well as the emitter ones. ( I have both)

So if I have a 1080P Samsung DLP and a Panasonic Panasonic DMP-BDT105.... then all I need to get is some Xpand 3d glasses to watch blu in 3d? And I can still run everything through my 1.3 compatible AVR (onkyo 606) and get lossless audio?

I have a Samsung HL61A750 and use a Panasonic DMP-BDT300 with the Samsung SSG1000 glasses. I also use an Onkyo 1.3 HDMI AVR and have the Panasonic Blu-ray set to checkerboard. My 3D looks great on my Samsung DLP. I believe the Expand 3D Glasses should work well for you. You should be set.

Thanks! And in this scenario... where does the transmitter for the 3D glasses get hooked up? Does it connect to the 3D transmitter input on the DLP (the one that kind of looks like a s-video input) or does it get chained in the HDMI somehow. I do need a transmitter for the glasses right?

Just trying to get a full mental picture of how this works. I'm not electronics stupid, but 3D seems to be a bit more technically difficult than other recent HT upgrades.

I have mine chained with the 3D Adapter back to the Samsung HDTV using the emitter plug that looks like an S-Video connection. I followed the directions that came with the adapter.

I posted this question over in the display forum as well, so sorry for the redundancy...is the only place to get the 3dc-100s kit still directly from Mitsubishi? Not quite ready to spend $449, but if there were lower cost options I would explore them. Thanks.

I ordered mine from 3Dglassesunlimited.com

Yeah a little pricy, but ships to canada and communicates well. I set myself up with UltraclearDLP link glasses from 3Dheaven.

In total it cost me about $700 for 6 pairs of glasses and the adapter. The two packages were expensive enough I had to pay GST and stuff at the post office. (thats included in the $700 i think)

Overall I've been very happy with everything except the lack of 3d content.

And I want to force the adapter to pass through my receiver as I know my receiver can handle checkerboard, but so-far i'm too lazy to try that very hard.

This simple procedure appears to unlock the Mits 3DC-1000 / 3DA-1 so it works with the Samsung sets!

1. Power off the adapter (leave everything plugged in and connected)
2. Press and hold the 3D Mode button then press and hold the Power button
3. Observe the 3D status light until it blinks. You want it to blink once, if it blinks twice (5 seconds apart) then restart at step 1.
4. After you get the unit to blink once, release the Power button then release the 3D Mode button.

It worked for me too. I know this is slightly maddening for those that put so much effort into this. I should know considering I spent several hours with another solution about a year ago, but good riddance...IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!

Not so fast.
It appears that some units with 2011 build dates are not working.
Please list working unit's build dates so see if there is a pattern.

January 2011 works.

Picked mine up from Vanns.com from their Clearance/Open box for under $50 (and they still have some left btw). I didn't ask about manufacture date, I just took a chance and got lucky.

Same here Ray105.

Just ordered one from Vanns.com Clearance/Open Box. I'll let you know my build date once it arrives. I figured at this point it was worth the risk at under $50.

Before I get too far down the road on this...outside of this adapter and the glasses and using my PS3, is there anything else I need to purchase to get my 3D functionality up and running?

I've read the threads and this is what I have determined?

If you have DLP Link glasses, then you have all the hardware covered. Otherwise, you will need an IR emitter with IR glasses. I am using a PS3 as well, and DLP Link glasses from Ultimate 3D Heaven.

For the PS3 - Once you have everything connected, go to Display Settings > Video Output Settings and select HDMI, then Automatic. In a few seconds it will come back with resolution of the TV, select yes, and then it will ask you to select the size of your TV and you're done.

For the TV - Don't forget to connect to HDMI port 3 and rename it to PC via the Samsung menu. After you put a Blu-Ray 3D disc in, the adapter should recognize it as 3D and you should see 3D light up on it. Then hit the Tools button on your Samsung remote and change the 3D mode to 1 (for IR) or 2 (for DLP Link) depending upon which glasses you have. If you don't see this option on your TV, then it's not seeing the 3D signal and you may have to manually hit the 3D button on the adapter.

For the glasses - make sure they're on!

Notes - When you switch to 3D mode on the TV, be prepared for a seriously red tinted picture and possibly some extra noise you didn't hear from your TV before. The glasses should take care of most of the red tint (more so with DLP Link glasses). The sound from turning on 3D mode will be drowned out by any audio from the movie so it's not distracting.

Finally, enjoy some 3D!

Do you guys have a link to the Vanns Clearance on the adapter? I may pick up a second one so I don't have to use a switch to connect both the PS3 and my set top box

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it..._c=site_search

Click on the "Clearance" tab on the right-hand side.

Now to convince my wife that the $50 for this and ~$150 for two sets of glasses is worth it. Then again that would only get us the 3-4 channels from DirecTV. I should know this, but the Xbox 360 doesn't have 3D support, does it? I'm mainly asking for streaming/downloading movies, not necessarily for gaming.
