Yes because of extreme toe-in to cross the convergence on the subject. The larger sensors blur out the background some so there's less ability to focus on that part. This is of course the problem with side by side cameras, the physics doesn't work. Maybe a way to blur out the background more in post, I'll have to see.

Finally put together a wide SbS rig for these cameras. Had a leftover 1/2" Al bar 36" from another project so it's getting used for this. Minimum interaxial 14" and adjustable up to 34" and fully extended to 42" (requires remounting baseplates). Using same plates from small rig but longer so they just come off the small rig and mount right up to this rig without any unscrewing.

Might "borrow" Don's idea and mount my 3DA1 in middle, there's plenty of room.

Here's some ideas on hardware for a low cost bench that is very precise on alignment.

Buy two of these:
https://www.amazon.com/DryLin-W1040-...ds=igus+slider

Buy Three of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-323...ease+plate+501

You can do without the quick releases but I found that expense worth it for very fast setup when I arrive on site. If you mount a third camera on the bench in the center, you will need a third Igus Dry Lyn slider kit. I found it cheaper to buy the slider kit than to buy just the parts for the slide bench from Igus direct. Both the slides and the quick releases are about twice the price as when I bought them back in 2012. Amazing how this stuff went up in price. The only shop work will be the need to drill some holes and saw off the slide bar if you wish to make several of convenient lengths. I left one bar the full length, and the other I cut for 12" and 21"

This is a much better price but beware, different brands are not compatible. Once you go with a brand, stay with it so your stuff can be mixed around.

I use RC0 hex plates which work with my 3063 heads. I need to pick up some more flush mount plates. I like the quick release plates, just leave on camera but I can't do that with my AX100's when I have it on 3D rig. But I can take the slider plates off those with not much trouble if I need to mount up for 2D projects.

I think I saw that slider on ebay or one similar to it when I was looking for a cinema slider a few years ago. I had this 36" inch bar left over from my Gem utility bed build so I put it to use. Attached same baseplate as the small rig so it's just unhook from small rig and move to large rig.

That slider bar looks like a good use for SbS rig. On mine, not using the tripod mounts on each camera, but have one on small rig so the whole thing can go on a tripod, and same with this rig, hex plate in middle.

Basically, made rig this way so it can go from small to wide rig without changing setup. Will have to do some testing to see how alignment goes. May have to make some adjustments later.

I've posted these before, but below showing small rig.

Not that this was that complicated, but my Al sheet metal skills are coming back to use from Cessna days before I got laid-off, so it wasn't a waste after all! Used to work in the forward cabin of XLS+ aircraft. But if I make a mistake here I don't have to tell anyone, lol.

Working on beamsplitter rig for macro 3D. This is based on the 100.00 beamsplitter rig but I made a few changes.

So far under 100.00 in parts including the mirror.

Pre-painted stage 1. Next is alignment work which is the tricky part. And covers for top and back to block light. And it's going to need side flaps because light glare is awful on the mirror from the front. Then I'll paint it black in final stage. Yes, much easier to shoot SbS 3D!
