As I said, most people aren't embracing Atmos, etc. either. Guess the "general public" wallets don't matter there.

Oh, and no one is expecting all TV manufacturers to restore 3D. But speculation that LG could conceivably have one or two models that support it next year is not beyond the realm of possibility

Obviously not.

I think the problem with rapidly disappearing 3D content is due to resistance from movie theater chains, and their unwillingness to invest in adequate 3D display equipment, along with their excessive surcharges on 3D ticket prices. Essentially, audiences are being asked to pay extra to see extra dark movies through uncomfortable glasses.

On the home front, 3D blu-rays and 3D televisions and projectors tend to be expensive, or inadequate, or both. By the time LG rolled out those great OLED 4K 3D models, it was too late, and they were too expensive to save the day.

So we, the few, 3D fans are like those high end audiophiles who cringe at the sound of those tinny MP3 players.

I think people will always like movies, but if you are willing to watch a movie on a tiny little phone, you are not going to want to spend money to see the same thing in a movie theater in 3D or 2D.

The superiority of 3D as an immersive video experience will win out eventually, I hope.
