"A 3-D Blu-Ray player will allow any HDTV to display 3-D movies."
-Best Buy about an hour ago

OMGWTF

Where can I go to read and print out the REAL specifications behind 3-D Blu-Ray playback?

Any TV? I don't that is true.

There are 3D Blu-rays out right now that use the anaglyph glasses. Perhaps that's what Best Buy is confused about.

I don't know about the OP's statement with no link, but this just hit the HDGuru's website:

Best Buy Offers Bogus 3D Sync Service

It was the salesman in the TV department that told me that, not an "official" Best Buy press release or anything. IMO, salesman, however ignorant, speak for the company they work for.

The BB statement would be correct if -IN 2D FORMAT- was added to the end of their statement. so it would be as follows:

"A 3-D Blu-Ray player will allow any HDTV to display 3-D movies" IN 2D FORMAT.

Most people have learned not to believe what salespersons tell them at a retailer like Best Buy without verifying it.

As a person who was a salesperson who worked with large corporations for 25 years I can say this . . .

How do you know a salesperson is lying?

His lips are moving!

C'mon folks, it's BB, do we really expect anything more from them?

Currently testing 3D with Sammy DLP, shutter glasses, and HTPC

Interesting the Panny at least has three options for the type of 3D....

Full HD
Checkerboard
Side by Side

So it may be possible... No owners manual for me to look at, but the options were there and selectable in the setup menu.

They are retards. I was at BB in Beecave, Tx and they kept spouting things like "Yep! Avatar 3D Blu-Ray in April!" They also said the Monsters vs Aliens 3D Blu-Ray was for sale, but couldn't find it, although they said you can get it online. Only thing I see is the regular Blu-Ray with the Bob's Big Break short in 3D.
