any ideas?

What video source do you use (2D, 3D SBS)?
If you use a 2D input and want to convert to 3D, first try to put the resolution in 720P on the PCH, than try to press the pass through button first and then the 3D button for 3D DLP.
When you use a SBS video, you have to see two pictures side by side half, than if you press the button 3D source for 3D DLP, you must have to see in 3D.
I think what ever the source you use, you must put it first in 720P.
Have you try in anaglyph? Maybe the problem is with your DLP link glasses (Are they compatible to your projector?)

the vivitek 1080hd is a 2D projector... with a max vsync of 85hz... therefore it can not do 3D DLP. you can not use active DLP link glasses with this PJ because DLP link glasses require and sync with a 120hz refresh rate. also, this converter unit does not have VESA port... therefore you can not use RF glasses with it either.

if you buy this unit and you do not have a 3D display (3DTV, or 3D DLP PJ) then you are limited to using only anaglyph... ie the red/bue, green/majenta, or amber blue type of glasses.

you can not use this unit if you are using a 3D Blu-ray with 3D media... as it does not convert to or pass thru sequential media.

as for SBS media... while the h1080fd might be able to accept a 720p/1080p signal @ 60hz and possibly even 720p @ 120hz... it still can only output that signal to a max of 85hz... once again eliminating active 3D via DLP Link or RF glasses.

this is a unit designed specifically for folks who have 2D media and want to convert/watch it on their 3D TV or 3D DLP projector. if you have only a 2D TV or PJ... then you're only option to go with less than stellar dinasour anaglyph glasses.

Hi, I came across this the other day

(cant post links) so on amazon uk:
Video-Coverter-Game-Image-Converter

and searching for info on it I couldn't find much but it led me here.

I'm looking for it to play 3D PS3 games and movies in anaglyph on a 2D TV, I'm not so bothered about the fake 2D to 3D conversion, only really interested in converting 3D content to anaglyph.

I'm wondering if there's much delay/lag in the processing that would affect playing games, anyone here have any experience with anything like that?

There is something else that comes to mind with viewing anaglyph, anyone in the UK remember channel4 had a 3D week a couple of years ago?
I have my cablebox going through scart to a samsung dvd/hd recorder which is connected to tv through hdmi.
At the start of the 3D week I had little or no 3D effect at all but then discovered that something in my setup was doing something to the image, maybe like it was trying to align the different colour channels and messing up the 3D.
I can't remember where the problem was, I'm pretty sure it wasn't my TV but I'm wondering if the image processing in some TVs or other boxes will try to 'fix' what it thinks are problems with the image and screw up an anaglyph image?

alexi_drago;

if the PS3 can output sbs... then it might be able to convert sbs to anaglyph.

but other than converting 3D media back to 2D... this unit does not do conversion of 3D frame packed to sequential or sbs or anaglyph.

Thanks pb_maxxx, from what I can find it looks like the 3D game output from the PS3 is only top-bottom

Are there any similar devices that can take that format and convert to anaglyph?

I picked up the 3d video wizard product and it is working in anaglyph nicely off of the ps3. The product handles frame packed, side by side and top bottom.

I couldn't find the video wizard outside the US but I found something similar, CMP-2Dto3Dconv by Konig (dutch I think) which seems to do what I'm looking for, anyone know anything about that?

That only converts composite to HDMI, no 3D. Got the Konig converter and it does the job, the fake 2d->3d isn't up to much but the 3D output from the PS3 converted to anaglyph is pretty good.

i also got the 3d video wizard. I havn't tried it on xbox yet, but i was amazed at how well it worked with espn 3d on directv. 2d to 3d is ok but on native 3d it really shines!!!

I have a few questions about this product, hope someone can help me, first, is this converter compatible with the dlp link glasses? if so, Am I going to be able to use my qumi q2 with my ps3 to play games at 720p via hdmi with the dlp link glasses?, cause this product advertise that it´s compatible with 3d ready projectors and 3d dlp link glasses and nobody is mentioning this which is way it worries me and everybody just mention the red and cyan glasses, this product is way cheaper than 3Dfury and I know from an other poster that 3dfury does what it claims but at 400 dollars,

Hello
I am curious. If the converter is used on a passive 3D TV will the converter create a side by side image (stereoscopic) out of a 2D image and will I then be able to view that image in true 3D via passive glasses?

Hi
I have asked several retailers the question as to whether their 2D to 3D converter will produce a side by side image on a 3DTV in order to create true 3D on a 3DTV (mine is passive)

So far two retailers have said yes,one was very vague and said if I had a 3DTV I don`t need a converter and a lot of others said they wasn`t sure but the 3D is very nice.
However, most have said that passive or active shutter glasses can be used in conjuncture with the converter/3DTV set up

Meh.I expect you`re trying to find out the same basic answer to the same basic question as I am

However the 2D content is converted into 3D,is the 3D true 3D as in the dedicated 3D that some films/games offer or is it pseudo 3D like my LG TVs basic inbuilt 2D to 3D conversion mode which tries its best to turn everything into 3D but frankly its a bit poo

Thanks

I recieved my Monoprice today. And it does indeed make it Side By Side. Now I can watch all DVD's in 3D on my 47 Vizio Passive. It looks great. I had another convertor I purchased before this that was not so hot. It did not convert it side by side.

Many thanks for your confirmation reply. As far as I know the Monoprice converter isn`t sold in the UK so I will look to import one.
Just out of curiosity, what was the brand name of the other converter you tried?I have my eye on the Marvel Digital 2D to 3D converter box
Thanks again and I wish you well with your 3D viewing ^.^

I have seen this item on Amazon (UK) The item seems to have a 2 pin plug. Will I have to order a plug converter before I can use this 2D to 3D converter in the UK or will the supplier from China send the item with the appropriate 3 pin plug?

IOGEAR was the one I ordered before. Promised an awful lot. And delivered not much at all.

No, I don't trust it. 2D to 3D movie is also the 2D effect after you put the glass on...
