I have a 100" screen with my epson 5010 projector. It works great, but some movie where the object are like popping out of the screen, make my eyes feel weird. I'm sitting about 15 feet away. Im I too close ?

sometimes you need to invert the 3D if it doesnt look natural or hurts

let me try that, be back in 10 minutes lol. I never thought about inverse it since it works fine long as no pop out scene.

See if your kit has a "viewpoint" setting. Play with that.

(This slides the two eyes sideways relative to each other, which changes how much you are crossing your eyes, which changes how natural it feels to focus on the screen.)

A second option would be to play with any components that have a "screen size" setting, as this might effect viewpoint on content that cannot be depth-adjusted (basically anything other than games.)

It all depends on the object popping out. If you're too close to the 3D, the 3D projection of the objects actually enter your eyes and may cause issues. Things like 3D snow or 3D cute bunnies will not be a problem, but I would never sit that close to something dangerous like a 3D lava flow or a 3D dinosaur*

*There are no studies that support my theory.

I'm really glad to see this thread. I'm suffering from the same issue but didn't feel it was worth making a dedicated thread to diagnose.

I have a 60C9 with dlplink glasses. I sit about 10ft away from the screen. Watching BDs on PowerDVD11.

My TV provides excellent 3D depth and Trine 2 is comfortable in 3D for extended periods.

However I recently watched Tangled 3D and while I was blown away by additional depth 3D adds there were occasional moments where something came close to the screen and rather than popping out, became defocused and uncomfortable to look at. A particularly guilty moment was the lantern scene which looked amazing until a lantern passes right infront of the "camera".

Unfortunately the disk was rented so I can't easily debug that problem, but any input would be appreciated.

Now that I think about it. Having played hours of games in 3D, watched a 3D BD and some downloaded 3D videos - I never see (obvious) pop-out, the 3D effect is purely manifested in terms of depth as if looking through a window.

Yeah, I notice the same thing sometimes. There are some popouts that work really well (Potato Cod in Imax: Under the Sea and Guns in RE: Afterlife), but there have been a number of popouts in other movies that my eyes don't resolve well (read: nauseating) and I miss the effect. I will definitely try the sync invert trick with my projector and see if that helps. The problem seems to happen only with very quick popout moments and when a snow effect, for example, is supposed to spill outside of the screen. Oh, another example that is supposed to be great but didn't really work for me is the vampire deaths in Fright Night.

I would advise against playing with the invert sync function on DLP link projectors to solve a problem like this. The sync is either correct or reversed, and if it's reversed you'd know it. When it's reversed your right eye is seeing the left image, and your left the right image, so that far off objects appear close and close objects appear far. It effects everything, not just pop out.
