Hi All,

I have a quick question, if someone can clear it for me. If I have a 3D Bluray of a movie and a 2D bluray of the same movie, and I convert both of them
to 3D Half SBS format. Would there be any visual difference in the both since one is converted from original 3D BD and other 2D BD. This is on a 47" LG display I am talking about.

Thanks in advance ...

Regards
Sammy

Yes, but if you are willing to spend several million dollars per film you can come close.

What he's saying is:

Why on earth would you try to convert a 2D movie into 3D if you already have the native 3D version? For that matter, why would you ever attempt to convert a 2D movie into 3D yourself anyway? Homebrew methods of 3D conversion are crap.

Watch the 2D movie in 2D, and watch the 3D movie in 3D.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mister Anderson.

Why would I convert, mmmmm not sure how to ans this........ say for example I have my friends 3D BD, I like and I want to buy it, but I also have an option to buy a 2D BD of the same and convert it to 3D (coz of huge price difference and to an extent availability as well). In that scenario, the question would rise, if the visual difference is not that great, I would purchase a 2D BD of the movie and convert. If the visual difference is to big, I mean east n west type, then I would definitely purchase an original 3D version.

Hope I made some sense in explaining .....

Here is what they are saying.

3D BD will do 3D better then a 2D to 3D conversion. So buying the 2D version and making it 3D yourself will not be as good. Some movies do ok when converted to 3D and others are terrible.
My question though is why buy a 3D BD and then kill it by converting it to half SBS? 3D BD are frame packed 1080P not SBS or TB/OU.

So that I can take a backup with a lesser space, (if ... as I said the difference isnt that huge)

Explain me one thing, if both the 3D and 2D version are converted to SBS, they are both on the same technical format, specifications. How come 3D BD converted SBS be superior than a 2D converted SBS ...??

Because whatever you're using to convert a 2D movie to 3D in no way compares to whatever technique the studio used to make that movie 3D. It's like you taking a black and white photo of a painting, hitting "add color" and then expecting it to look like the Monalisa...
