I have been notified by Jonathan Alexander of 3D-VIP of their upcoming pre-launch of the new 3D converter so-named "Evolver".

This will be a hardware converter for two projector passive 3D. When released, all sales will be direct via the 3D-VIP website. Their website has not at this point been updated to reflect the new product.

It is anticipated I will receive the .PDF flyer next week and hopefully I can post it for your viewing. Since it requires polarized glasses a silver screen will be a necessity. Not sure I have room for another screen with the two that are presently in use but you folks probably do!

Hope to be able to tell more next week.

Try this contact email address for now and Jonathan should be able to get you a quote for direct purchase and his phone number if you need to talk. Since Consignia and Curt Palme may be handling sales as well the pricing may vary and I am reluctant to make mention of it at this stage.. It should be better through Jonathan for domestic USA purchasers.

He should be sending me a line drawing to post later this week.

Does this do frame interpolation or only 30 Hz per eye? I imagine 1080P 60Hz input, what is each output for L/R projector? Is this for movies only, IE, any input lag introduced would be pretty bad for gaming seeing as projectors are already pretty bad when it comes to input lag.

Here are the examples I was provided:

Example 1: 1080p60 side-by-side input -> 1080p60 full frame output in both L
and R

Example 2: 1080p24 framepack 3d movie -> 1080p24 full frame output in both L
and R

Example 3: 720p60 framepack 3d game -> 1080p60 full frame output in both L
and R (or 720p60 full frame output in both L and R if DIP2 is down)

Hello.
This demultiplexer is looking good for hdmi1.4a compliant sources, I might use it for my PC, however I'm looking for a demultiplexer a little beyond the hdmi minimum spec. I am not satisfied with 24Hz or Half resolution 60Hz : I'm looking for a device that can input and split FullHD 60Hz at full resolution per eye, through either Display Port 1.2 or 300MHz Hdmi 1.4a , whichever picture format as long as it is supported by AMD drivers (AMD HD3D).
Do you know if there will be an upgraded version of the 3D Evolver which will support this ?

Passive 3D, forever !
My Full-HD dual-projector passive polarised 3D setup. (really out of date ! I need to update it some day...)

With AMD's 7900 series of GPUs supporting 120Hz framepacked via HDMI (60 per eye) I'm wondering as well .

http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-radeon-hd-7750-and-7770-review/4

Stereo 3D - HD3D

First off let me state this, the 3D Stereo feature will get expanded to Eyefinity as well. So with the upcoming driver updated you will get the option to play games in 3D on multiple monitors.

But there is far more interesting news. AMD expanded on the HDMI 1.4a specification and now is going to support frame packing for Stereo 3D. And that will allow far greater framerates. The 7900 series GPUs will and are the first to support 3GHz HDMI with frame packing support for Stereo 3D. See, typically you'd be limited to HDMI 1.4a restrictions. ie. the highest resolutions for 3d gaming are 720p60 or 1080p24. You couldn't do 1080p60.

The new spec allows you to set up the screen over HDMI to 1080P and get a good 60Hz per eye, that's thus 120Hz in total. This in the past was not possible as over HDMI you'd get 24/30 Hz (and thus FPS) per eye at 1080p. Which is great if you are a fan of seizures. For HD3D gaming you'll be reliant on an external partner like DDD for your 3D game experience though.

I don't know the pricing but here is what I received recently from 3DVIP.

PRE-LAUNCH
Now available directly from 3D-VIP
PACKAGES:
(1) 3D-evolver processor
(2) 3D-VIP Passive Kit (two 1080p projectors, enclosure, polarized films, glasses, cables and the processor) sold & distributed via a reseller of 3D-VIP
OPTIONAL:
(3) silver screens sold and distributed via a reseller of 3D-VIP

For details, please email info@3D-VIP.com

If you contact them let them know you are an AVS Forum member. Last time I spoke to Jonathan of 3DVIP he sounded like he
was interested in finding some personal evaluators, so there may be some special pricing for some early takers. I am just not interested right now in adding another AE4000 and silver screen to give it a try at this time.

Does anyone know if this supports 120hz 1080p 3D? - ie via Displayport 1.2 or 300 mhz HDMI?

Of course, intent is to get native 1080p60 per eye, not 1080p24/30 reflashed to 60

Anyone know?

^^^My apologies for not reading the early part of this thread with a decent level of comprehension. I was lookiing for a device that would work on a flat panel tv and didn't read carefully enough to know this was a projector solution.
