I have an Optoma GT700, a HTPC with an ASUS Radeon HD 6570 (EAH6570/DI/1GD3(LP)), and an Onkyo HTX-22HDX.

The Optoma and the Radeon are both DLP-Link 3D Ready, and the Onkyo support HDMI 1.4a.

I have the latest Catalyst drivers installed, but not matter what I try, I can not make the 3D options on the Optoma to appear, or be un-grayed.

The Optoma manual mentions 2 places where I should see the 3D settings.

Under the IMAGE menu, and under the Display Mode setting, there should be the 3D option but it does not exists.

Under the DISPLAY menu, there should be a 3D sub menu (with a bunch of 3D settings) but it does not exists either.

The manual implies that 3D is only available when using DLP Link mode, but I see no way to setup DLP Link mode.

The only thing I'm not sure about, is the 25 feets HDMI cable, so just in case I just ordered a new one.

So, besides checking the cable, what else could I be missing here?

Thanks!

OK, so I took out the onkyo, meaning, I connected the Radeon DIRECTLY to the Optoma, and now I can select 3D.

Now, I have downloaded a short trailer in HAL-OU format, which apparently is a format where the screen is displayed twice one on top of the other.

But now I do not know to playback the thing, as I have tried MPHC and VLC, and it is alway one on top of the other.

Shouldn't it change to something different? What I'm missing here?

Thanks!

The Optoma can do 3d only in 120 Hz frame-sequential, not HDMI 1.4a (frame-packed at 60 Hz), which is what the Onkyo will pass-through. You need a player that will convert the video (frame-packed bluray, over-under/side-by-side file, etc.) to 120 Hz 3d (the projector should be set at 120 hz 720p).

TMT5 can do this by selectding "AMD3D" output. In PDVD10, I think it was called "120 Hz something".

I use these two with a GT720, which is substantially the same projector, and an HD5450.
