So, I have the usual setup for home theater: Sim2 C3xe PJ, Meridian 568 preamp, Oppo BDP 93, M&K speakers, Krell amps......

....so, can I somehow convert this system to 3D? What's involved, do I need a new projector too???

thanks in advance

To me, the only item needed would be the projector.

I plug my Oppo93 direct to the TV which is 3D capable and all works well. Same would be with you. Plug the player directly to a 3D capable projector

Guess I was wondering if there is a magic box that we can pair up with our projectors to make it 3D and output a 3D image. Don't feel like buying another PJ just yet (hell, spent big bucks on my Sim2!)

I agree. Get a 1080p 3d projector and don't throw money into your 720p by getting a "magic box."

There are "magic" boxes - one is called the VIP 3D Theater. It will convert your projector to 3D. Your projector will work at 60hz so you may see some flicker with 30hz per eye using the VIP Theater device. You will also need the VIP 3D emitter and glasses. IMO your best bet is to contact Jonathon at 3DVIP if you want to order it, as he will give you a better deal on a direct order than any of the sites that sell these products.

Wow, 3D-VIP sounds good! I'm surprised there isn't more fanfare and excitement here on AVS on this product. Is it a marginal product or does it have hiccups? Must be plenty of folks interested in 3D with expensive 2D projectors.

I use it on my Optoma HD20. The 3D works great and the device is flawless. However, at 60hz I see flicker and it bothers me. This is an effect some people see and some don't. Looks like this:

The VIP Theater is supposed to be incredible on devices that accept 120hz inputs. Neither of our projectors can handle that though. Also, your output in 3D drops to 720p unless you get the newer VP Theater Plus model, that outputs 1080p.
