Hey,

I'm producing a concert where the entire back of the stage will be a 3D backdrop. The audience will be wearing Passive 3D glasses. Screen will be roughly 8m wide x 4m high.

There will be a light show as well - venues will range from 500 - 1500 capacity and some festivals (only at night though).

Could anyone recommend what 3D projector would be best suited for this job. How many Lumens would be a safe bet?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I doubt whether anyone can help you in this thread as it is for consumer grade projectors. No consumer grade projecter can do passive that I know of. You need a commercial grade projector that will cost $150,000+. If you are on a budget I have seen Christi projectors used around $25000 and you would need two of these to do passive. Look at Sony and Titian also.

Thanks for writing back... for example LG projectors are passive... we do have budget though and I expect the projector will be rented for each production rather than bought. But as a starting point could you give me an idea of how many Lumens I should be looking for?

With almost no ambient light 6500 ansi should work but 3D needs more. There are formals for calculating to get about 17ftl . No LG passive projectors showed up in my search. Christie is the brand to look at

You really need to go somewhere not here for advice on such matters. People on this forum can try and help and there are some very knowledgeable people here, what you are looking at doing is something quite different to what people are doing here.
