Lack Of 3D Bluray Releases Lately?

I see that they are still filming movies in 3d for theater playback, but there seems to be a marked decline in the number of those same films being released to the public in 3d on Bluray. Does this signal yet another end to home 3d movies? I hope not, because forgoing the theater "experience" is the reason I bought my 3d projector!

So far the major releases are still getting Blu ray 3D releases but there have been a few exceptions. Box office bombs might not get a 3D Blu ray release like Ben-hur recently. Also, some films don't get released here in US but get a release over seas. Disney is known for this and it's hit or miss on those.

There's also the China market which gets movies converted to 3D for theater that we never get in theater and Blu ray 3D. There's a fairly extensive list of those, including: Robocop, Noah, Battle Royal, Transcendence, Fast and Furious 7, Jason Borne, Taken 3.
Usually these are lower quality conversions and not filmed with 3D in mind.

Something I noticed lately is they don't seem to be stocking Blu ray 3Ds in stores anymore. Have to order online.

This line intentionally left blank.
