I know this has posted but I come up empty in my search. What are people using to mount their soundbars above their TVs? Mine is on a stand so a wall mount isn't doable. The only thing I've been able to find thus far is this (and it's a bit pricey IMO):

I dont know what it would attach to.
Can you put your TV on a small riser and sit the soundbar under it?

If you want to know if a product is "good", please tell us your definition of "bad" for an understood point of reference. Do you want subjective opinions or objective facts?

I recall a post where someone used supplies found at Home Depot which used Velcro attached to the back of the set. Just can't find the post. Also, there are aftermarket brackets out there although I can only find the one I posted the link on. From what I read, the sound is far improved if the soundbar is above the TV vs. below so that's what I'm shooting for.

I would post links to them in this post, but I don't have the privilege to post URL's yet, so I will post right after this, my third post. Does that make sense?

Here's Davyo's explanation of the Home depot method: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...2#post17808742

And here are pictures of what it looks like: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...2#post18319032

Hope that helps

Hey Capecodguy,, that might have been my post you were refuring to,,, I made a soundbar bracket with stuff I got from HomeDepot and it worked pretty well.

I have also mounted soundbars with velcro on the top bezel of my flat screens when the soundbar was light enough and the displays bezel was wide enough.

And yes,, the sound from ANY bar is greatly improved when mounted up higher than lower,, its made a huge difference for me with every soundbar I have ever owned.

On a side note, I just got a soundbar bracket from http://soundbarbrackets.com/ and I gota say I think its pretty slick,, I have not used it yet but do plan on using it when my new'est Vizio bar arrives (the Vizio is much to heavy for the velcro trick), anyhow, with HomeDepot you will end up spending about $20.00 which is cheaper than the $50.00 for soundbarbrackets.com , but I kinda think the bracket is worth it,,, just my opinion of course.

On a side note,, I wonder if they got the idea for the bracket from reading my postings of how to make one,,,,, jeeze, that would suck,,,, I should of patented the idea,,,,, Ohh well,, live and learn.

Cheers
Davyo

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a soundbar as well but had another question about placement. My TV is in a large entertainment center and pretty much fills the TV opening. I was thinking of getting a soundbar and putting it on top of the entertainment center, so it would sit about 2 feet above the TV. Do you think this would sound ok, or is this too high for placement? I'm not sure I understand why placing it above the TV improves sound but thought this might be a good solution for my setup.

Thanks,
Jason

What is a 3-in-1 TV stand?

The ideal listening height is as close to ear level in your seated position as possible.

However, I am fairly certain that you could mount above your TV if it was critical. People always find a way.

Can you forward a picture?

I will attach a picture when I get home from work tonight but it is basically a tv stand with a mounting bracket attached to it.

drfreeman60 this is my setup, this is what i called a 3 in 1 tv stand, I could have either placed the tv on the top shelf of the tv stand, I could have mounted the tv on the wall behind the tv stand, or this stand came with its own mounting unit that attaches to the stand itself. The latter is the route I chose to go with this tv stand. I was just wondering if there is a way to mount the soundbar on top of the tv. I feel like the soundbar will be too low if i put it on one of the shelves of the tv stand.

I agree that the soundbar under the TV in that setup may be too low. I know that somewhere in these threads, there was talk about a home made solution for mounting a sound bar above your TV. I believe it was Davyo and he used wood and velcro. I don't see him post much anymore, so not sure. I don't know of a mount that could be added, but you may take a look at Amazon and Mono-price to see if they have something that you could use.
