Our current setup consists of:
No receiver
Panasonic Plasma 42" PZ77U
SD Cable TV signal and SD Pioneer dvd player via HDMI (to tv)
Terk HDTVa Antenna
Room has vaulted ceiling and we sit 10' away from tv with 4' wall behind us
Considering Bluray player via HDMI

We would like a soundbar:
up to 400$ maybe slightly more if it will improve quality
31" or less
wireless sub would be nice but unnecessary (we would prefer clarity over bass, especially if the bass is going to sound poor)
Would consider cheap receiver if it would improve the overall sound quality

As always I appreciate the responses. This forum has been the best resource over the years. Thanks.

Brian,, your sitting 10" away from your TV,,,, thats a bit close,,, and you have 4" walls,,,,, them's some tiny little walls

Well since the Vizio VHT210 is my new favorite my vote would be for that one,,,, its 249.00 at Target and Amazon and its 31 1/4 " wide,,,, also, Im not sure if there is another soundbar I would recomend thats under or around the 31" size you need.

Cheers

Doh! 10"...no wonder everything is so blurry. Anywho... it's closer to 12' since the tv is diagonal from the couch...and the 4' wall is a partition between the living room and the kitchen.

I will be going to target to check this one out tomorrow. Seems like a good unit from the information I can find on the web.

Anyone have particular opinions about the zvox soundbars?

I tried a Zvox a few weeks ago and was not really impressed,,, but some people do like them,,, if you do a search here on Zvox you will see the postings about it.

I can guarentee you 100% the Vizio sounds like crap in the Target stores,,, night and day difference always between listening to a demo in a store and listening to the Vizio at home.
