I also wonder if this unit would sound good in a 20 by 30 foot living room. I've always heard that soundbars are only good for small rooms. I bought a Bose 3 in 1 a few years back and even in a slightly smaller room I didn't notice any surround effect at all.
Thanks for the advice.
Soundbars can work fine in a 20x30 room, just depends on which soundbar and what shaped room.
Not getting a surround effect with your old Bose 321 could have been many factors,, your source material, the amount of refelective walls and many other factors.
There are some great soundbars out there these days, my personal favorites are the JVC BA1, Yamaha YSP's, Vizio VHT510 (has rear speakers) and the Sony CT-150 to name a few,,,,,,,, the JVC is my top favorite,, the Vizio VHT510 if you want rear speakers.
Best thing to do is read up on all the soundbars and try some out, you can always return what you dont like.
