Now we're talking...some good competition to the yamaha YSP's series that will up the bar for both parties which is good for all of us. Seriously, these, the YSP's and B&W's soundbar are true 5.1 sound bar that is another level up from the vizeo's, sony's and JVC's. These and the other 2 mentioned are made for dedicated HT and the others are ok for bedrooms and such.

Well, the XTR-SSA-5 would match my thin Samsung plasma better than the SSA-50 refurb I just bought. (And presumably weigh-down the mount less.)

But I wonder how good it would sound pulled away from the wall? These very thin speakers are designed to be mounted to a wall, right?

More than likely you are correct. We will have to await the actual product to know for sure. DT currently sells a line of wall mounted speakers and they are specifically designed to utilize the wall mounting in evening out frequency response. They look good too.

They will probably work equally well, maybe better, a few inches from the wall. Wait until we have some good professional reviews and it will be easier to know where these stand.
