Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for the insightful forum, I've been reading a lot recently and I admittedly still feel like I know very little about audio (just got done doing a ton of learning about TVs) but I'm making an effort.
Anyway, I recently purchased a Samsung PN58C8000 and have a PS3, Dish Network DVR and a Panasonic SC-PT960 HTiB left over from my last setup. I feel like I'm lacking in the Audio department since the Panasonic only has 1 digital optical in and NO HDMI inputs so I have the PS3, Panny and DVR hooked up to the TV via HDMI and then a Digi Optical from the TV to the Panny. This gives me stereo sound for everything and I use DPLII to simulate the surround.
At this point, I'm leaning towards getting a Mythos SSA-50, and Epik Legend sub and maybe a Denon AVR (not sure which one yet). I live in a top floor apartment that measures 13'10 by 23' in the main room (the Home entertainment center part takes up a little less than half of the room on the right side and the rest of the room opens up to the kitchen area on the left) and there are ~10' tall cathedral ceilings. I dont really have a lot of room for a proper 5.1 or 7.1 system in this room and the only reason that the HTiB speakers fit is because they are really small and on stands.
I basically just wanted your guys' inputs as to whether you think this is a good way for me to go. I dont need anything super powerful since Im in the apartment and the fiance isn't really big on loud noises to begin with (always yelling at me to turn it down!). And truthfully this Panasonic system is the nicest home theater setup I've had to date so I definitely can't consider myself an audiophile....One other thing is this purchase will definitely be sometime down the road since I just spent 2k on the new TV and have a honeymoon to pay for
so I'm open to doing some more reading if you guys have any recommendations. Thanks!
