Here is my dilemma:
I have this BDI cabinet, on which is resting my new Samsung UN55D6420:http://www.bdiusa.com/theater/avion_2_8929.shtml
This set up is in my basement, which consists of a big open room of approximately 18' X 20'. My flooring is made of ceramic tiles, which probably has an impact on sound distribution.
I have an HD/PVR cable box and a PS3.
Although this cabinet could accommodate a lot more components, I'm not planning to add any in the near future. However, I would like to benefit from the space intended for a centre speaker to conceal a soundbar. I read that it may be ideal to install a soundbar above a flat screen, but I'm not willing to do that at this time.
Hence, I'm limited by the width of this drawer, which is 34.5".
I currently have the Polk IHT 3000, and I am underwhelmed by it. I get a less than rich sound, the remote is almost impossible to use (not sure if it has anything to do with the mesh of the drawer), the sub emits a weird vibration sound at times, and when I turn on my tv and HD box, the soundbar turns itself on - at a very high volume. If I can program the soundbar to be controlled by my TV or HD box remote, it would surely help the issue.
As a reference, I have an Apple HiFi Sound System connected to another LCD, and I'm more than satisfied with its sound and bass outputs. I understand the HiFi is not meant to substitute a surround sound system or even a soundbar, but I'm hoping to find somewhat of an equivalent in terms of sound quality, in a soundbar. (If I could hide the HiFi in my BDI cabinet, I would move it to my basement, no question!)
I don't really need a wireless subwoofer, although I suppose it would be a nice flexibility to have.
My price range is between $300-$500.
Based on all of the above, the only option I can find is the Sony HT-CT150.
Any other recommendations/suggestions would be most welcome!
