I'm struggling to find a soundbar that is around 300 dollars and has the design and features I want. I found a Boston acoustics soundbar but it only has an optical input. My question is, if I were to get this, would I just run an optical cable from my tv to the soundbar? Would i get sound from both my hdmi devices through the single optical cable? Also, would sound quality be diminished with this kind of setup? Thanks

You will get sound from anything connected to the TV; however, Panny TVs will only output 5.1 audio from their internal tuner(s). Everything else is output as 2.0 stereo. You might be perfectly happy with that depending on how well the soundbar applies processing. A better choice might be a soundbar with a minimum of one HDMI in and one optical in. That would give you the ability of sending 5.1 audio to the soundbar from two (or more) devices.
