I have a Sony HT-CT150 soundbar + subwoofer. I am planning on building a floating corner shelf for my plasma, soundbar and subwoofer.

Is there any reason I can't lay the subwoofer on its side? It won't get damaged, will it? I realize that I will lose some bass since it won't be sitting on the floor, but don't mind the sacrifice to regain some floor space.

That would be one fragile subwoofer. I believe the receiver and amp is in the woofer, but I don't know where it vents heat - that would be my only concern.

IMO avoid putting subs or speakers in cabinets/entertainment centers. Makes the bass sound boomy and muddy and will take away from the vocals.
