Hi,

I'm having problems figuring out how to hookup my new soundbar to my comcast box and/or my Magnavox tv. In total, I have a DVD player, the Magnavox tv (39MF412B), and a Comcast box from Motorola (DCX3200). The problem is the input / output limitations of my setup.

Here is a picture of the jacks on my tv:

Here is a picture of the jacks on the back of my Comcast box:

Please help!

One thought that I had was to run Red/White Audio wires from the back of the Comcast box directly to the soundbar. Not sure if that will work.

Thanks for your help.

I don't see a problem/limitation. Connect the Comcast box via HDMI directly to the CT150. Connect the CT150 via HDMI to one of the HDMI ports on the Motorola. That takes care of that. You didn't mention what connections your DVD player has available. If it has HDMI out, just connect it to one of the other HDMI ports on the CT150.

If you ever have any need to send audio out from the TV to the soundbar, just connect digital coax between the two.

BTW, the CT150 comes with an owner's manual that shows how to connect it in various situations.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

My concern with doing the connection via the method you described is that the HDMI out on the HT-CT150 says that it must link to a "ARC" compatible HDMI in on the tv. My tv doesn't say anything about being "ARC" compatible--either on the junction box area or in the manual. Do you think this is a problem? I don't even understand what the ARC function does.

No, you don't have a problem. It isn't a must connect to ARC; just that it can connect to ARC. ARC=audio return channel and eliminates the need to use a digital connection to send audio OUT from a TV. If you don't have anything connected to the TV, or use internet apps on the TV, or watch OTA, you don't need to send audio OUT at all. Just connect as I described and you're good to go.
