I am in the market for a sound bar ... can anyone comment on the SoloCinema XTR versus the Yamaha YSP 4300?

What are the best settings you guys have found for movies, tv and music. Trying to get my SSA immersion level just right for watching tv and I'm having a hard time deciding what sounds best.

10 for Movies
0 for Music
Music is a tuff one since the higher number takes the vocals out of the mix a bit.
For movies ya really want the effect so just keep,it on 10.
Just my thoughts

So just the stock settings. Have you found a sweet spot for tv yet?

Yes, overall no.
I feel 10 for movies felt the best.
It's so easy to mess around with the sound, you might find something works better for your ears, but I like 10 for movies, for music I'll move it around a bit and see what setting fits best for the program, but 0 seems to feel good to me

Yeah I like the adjustments that can be made as far as center, sub and surround effect. It's just that I find myself constantly tweaking them. Have you messed with the DTS settings yet?

The DTS ?
what one is that ?
I usually keep all the setting to "on"
and I try not to keep messing with it, but sometimes the ADD gets the best of me.

Looking at the Definitive Tech SoloCinema XTR sound bar and I'm concerned about the large number of negative reviews on amazon, referencing glitches, etc. Anyone here experience the same or conversely have continued positive experiences? Thx

I purchased this soundbar a couple of months ago and my experience has been totally positive. This is a great soundbar! There has been periodic 'clicking' from the sub but it is easily resolved by turning the sub off and back on again (this has only happened a couple of times). I have mounted the the soundbar below my 75" samsung. The soundbar always powers on without any problems and we switch between watching tv and blue rays easily. The sound from the XTR is great. I highly recommend it.

I've had one since November 2013 and absolutely love it. Sound and build quality is excellent. One thing I highly recommend is to turn off the Dolby Volume feature in the OSD menu settings. It flattens the dynamic level of music and especially movie soundtracks. My $0.02.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask or PM me.

Cheers.

Sorry for the late reply but yes I did get it installed cleanly with no wires showing. Looks good and works sufficiently for my family room which has limited space for standard speakers.
