This is something I have not been able to find in the manual, yet..................................
How do I keep my Sony Soundbar turned off when I turn the tv on? I only want to use it when watching movies, otherwise the tv speakers are fine.
I have the Soundbar connected to the tv via an HDMI cable and have tried a few options but it still turns on when I turn on the tv.
I use my Comcast remote for turning the tv on.
The tv has ARC and is connected to the ARC HDMI input on the soundbar.
Now I know the most logical or simplest thing to do is click the power off button on the remote for the soundbar when turning on the tv but my wife complains about having to use two remotes to watch tv.
She also complains about my snoring but that's another forum.

You didn't mention what brand/model TV you have, but it sounds like you're using HDMI-CTL (CEC). If you have a Panny TV, there are separate settings for auto-on and auto-off. If you have a different brand, check the "link" settings to see what's available.

You are correct. I do have a Panny TV and I am not sure if I should be looking in the TV settings or the Soundbar settings to make sure the soundbar does not come on everytime I turn on the tv.

You need to go to the Viera Link settings on your TV to get to the auto-off and auto-on feature. Your owner's manual will probably show you how to do it.

Thank you so much. I will give it a try when I get home this evening and will post the results here.
Yeah. Wasn't quite sure which component to use to shut off that feature and spent most my time looking in the Soundbar for answers.

That did it Possumgirl. Went in to the settings of the TV remote, Viera Link and found the settings there.
Now I can use my sound bar when I want to and not when it wants me to. lol.
Thanks again. smile.gif
