So my mom wants her TV louder and I know it sounds horrible so I was looking at sound bars but there to long. The shelf the 26" TV is on is only like 29" long. Sooo I thought about monitors like the M-Audio AV40's or the $89 Bose companion computer speakers BUT then I realized those don't have remotes for the volume frown.gif. What can I get? Also she doesn't need very much bass, or non at all, basically anything better than the TV speakers, like a couple of 3-4" speakers would be just fine.

Maybe the Boston TVee model 10 since it can learn your TV remote commands.

To long I looked at them

How does the remote thing work? Would you wind up changing the TV volume and stuff too?

Still looking, any 2.1's or 2.0's with RF for a universal remote?

Don't think anyone makes a 26-inch soundbar. The Boston just learns your TVs IR signal for volumes. You have to turn the TV speakers off though, not sure if your moms TV can do that.

Does anyone make a set of powered speakers that use an IR remote?

Dynex LX-D26-10A

So nobody makes a pair of speakers with a remote to control them like a sound bar?

I just did a quick Google search. Never heard them but what about these? I'm sure that the sound quality isn't great but either should help her hear the TV and have a remote:

The only Dynex 26-inch I can find is the DX-26L100A13, which has a headphone jack. Try plugging in a set of headphones and see if you can adjust the volume using the TV volume. If that works, just get a standard set of PC speakers, set them at midrange volume and let her just adjust the volume using the TV volume.
