I've owned this soundbar for roughly six months and have been fairly happy with it, besides the usual samsung annoyances of course. I want my audio to be as untouched by samsung's magical audio 'enhancing' tricks as possible. Now, the DRC settings - what do they actually do?

The completely useless manual states:

This feature balances the range between the loudest and quietest sounds. You can use this function to enjoy Dolby Digital sound when watching movies at low volume at night.

There's three settings: max, standard, and min. Does 'max' mean that the dynamic range is NOT compressed, or does it mean maximum compression is applied?

If relevant, my setup is as follows:

Motorola DCX3200 cable STB (audio set to passthrough) --> TV HDMI 1
TV HDMI 2 ARC --> soundbar

Thanks from a confused newbie.
