Securing a replacement remote or a universal like a Harmony will make your life much easier in the long run. In the interim, is the DVR the only source? If it has an HDMI output, you can connect the DVR to the HDMI IN on the soundbar and then connect HDMI OUT on the soundbar to the TV. Unfortunately, you would have to adjust the inputs and volume manually on the soundbar. On the far right side, you should see the controls. Unfortunately, I think that you need the remote to turn on AnyNet+ on the soundbar.
If you need more assistance, please be more specific regarding the outputs on the DVR, the model # of the TV, etc.
