picking up a new 60" panasonic plasma and want a sound bar with sub to go with it. choosing the soundbar because i can't run surround speakers so I want the sound quality, power, sound, clarity to rival the onkyo 5600 system I was going to get instead. it will be setup in a 1 bedroom condo's living room and will be used as a stereo as well, so bluetooth and usb port would be nice. what are my options? i'd probably like to stay under the ~500 dollar mark but don't let that stop you from suggesting a really good one that is a little over. i'm mostly concerned you can't get the same sound/power as you can from a typical receiver/speaker setup.

The new Pioneer is getting a lot of attention for a < $500 soundbar. It hit stores just this week. More info in this thread:

I own the Pioneer speaker bar and it sounds good. Especially on music. I prefer this to any of the small form factor 2-ch speakers I have tried. Some costing more than 2K.

The woofer requires a little patience to be set up properly. Mine was adjusted to high from the factory. Had to pull it at least a few inches from the wall and adjust the volume lower where the balance between the woofer and bar were correct.

This is the only small system, speaker bar or multi-speaker set up, that does not suffer from a depleted or non-existent mid bass. Most people will only notice this on music. With movies and their sound tracks not perciptable, so it depends on your listening as to whether this should be a criteria.

I undrstand the current Sony soundbars are also good. Sony has done well in this category.

One footnote, the Pioneer is one of the few soundbars made out of wood and is really dead. You can thump it and don't hear anything except a dull thud. This is very good and unheard of at this price range.

Thanks for the post, would you think it would outperform something like onkyos 2.1 LS3100 system?
