Hey all,

I am trying to see if this is a config issue, or compatibility

TV:

Samsung UN55D6000

Soundbar:

Samsung HWE450 Slim

I have these 2 connected via HDMI and audio optical cables.  Connected on TV ARC HDMI port.

I am troubleshooting an issue with the soundbar not powering on with the TV.

Regardless if I power on the TV with the Samsung remote or Comcast, the soundbar WILL NOT power on.  But, when I power off the TV, the soundbar powers off.

I have Anynet+ ON, and because of this, when I hit the "Auto Power" button on remote, I get the following "Not Available with Anynet+ ON"

but, don't I need Anynet+ ON in order for this to work?

totally confused / stumped

thanks

In looking at your setup, it seems that you have a connection that you don't need. In reality, you should use an optical connection OR an ARC (HDMI) connection. The sound should be the same. Auto on only works with an optical connection and AnyNet+ off. Auto off only works with an HDMI connection and AnyNet+ on. With an HDMI connection and AnyNet+ on, you can also control the volume with your TV remote. There are apparently a few Samsung TV's that are newer and have full functionality but I don't have one and, apparently, neither do you.

i read that you can get the tv to turn on AND off using Anynet+ if you do the following:

Go to Tools>Anynet+>AV Receiver.  Switch it to "ON" and the soundbar will turn on with the remote.

Haven't tried this myself, yet.

I could be wrong but I don't think that the auto on feature works unless you have a newer (2013) TV.
