I recently purchased this sound bar and have it hooked to my Sony KDL46HX850 via HDMI-ARC.  The two products sync together.  The problem I am having is that everytime I turn the power off on the systems and then turn the power back on, the sound bar defaults back to OPTICAL option, even though I do not have it set up that way.  I was curious if anyone knew how I can get the sound bar to automatically default to the HDMI display so I don't have to manually change the input on the sound bar everytime it is powered on.  Thank you.

Ok, silly question but did you make sure you hooked up to the HDMI-ARC input and not to the HDMI input (which is right next to the HDMI-ARC input)?

ARC technology is available only when the Control for HDMI function is set to on. If the Control for HDMI function is set to off, use a digital optical cable.

Set “TV AUDIO” in the AMP menu to TV(HDMI) - it's default setting is Optical.

Hope this helps.

I have the same unit. I can't get the subwoofer to connect to the soundbar. After going thru all the steps it says FAILED, it won't connect. Sony doesn't know of a fix.
