I'm looking for a pedestal sound bar for my parents and I've never heard any of these three:

Energy Power Base
ZVOX 555
Soundcraft CS3

My parents won't be interested in faux surround sound. They just want to hear dialogue easier and have a fuller, richer sound.

I don't have any experience with these. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Happy holidays!

I think the Speakercraft is the same as the Proficient. I liked the Proficient better than the Zvox. I haven't hear the energy.

I like that the Energy pedestal has it's small "subwoofers" facing forward. I'm guessing the crossover is around 150hz so forward facing might sound better considering how high it is.

My concern with the Soundcraft / Proficient is that there is a decent about of poor reviews on Amazon for various reasons.

The Zvox looks good. But the drivers are smaller than the Energy ( 2" vs 3") and there are no dedicated tweeters which would improve dispersion.

But again, I haven't heard any of them...

Thanks
Dan

I have never heard of either speaker craft or proficient. If someone gives them a bad review, that is enought to scare me away. Most people only post good reviews as it makes them feel they have made a positive choice.

I have not heard the Energy, but based on their reputation for good loudspeakers, would probably say that it is worth a shot. If dialog is your main concern, the Zvox is probably a decent choice. I played with a couple of Zvox models about three or four years ago and was not crazy about either. However, I was looking for a full range sound for movies and music. I believe for dialog and basic TV that either should be more than sufficient for your needs.
