Samsung HW-H550

I just picked this model up at a reasonable price. I had no trouble pairing it to my f8500 via autoconnect. It basically connected itself as soon as I hit the F key.

I've been watching various programs over the past few hours and I would rate the sound a nice "average". I'm no audiophile, and this is my first sound bar purchase, but I find nothing particularly offensive regarding the sound it puts out (I did go ahead and jack all of the levels up to max). It's vastly superior to the hollow sounding f8500 speakers.

And yet it's a bit underwhelming. Years ago I bought a htib that served me faithfully for many years: a Panasonic STR-760 (iirc). I paid about $50 less for that model than I did for this one, and I think it's sound quality/immersivess were superior to this product. And that tech must be at least 7 years old, and came with a 5 DVD player. The wireless rear speakers were phenomenal.

Am I expecting too much from what passes for now as an inexpensive sound bar? Should I return this and get a htib instead, even if it's an older used one? One thing this model has going for it is how easily I was able to pair it with the TV. If I can't get anything better for the price I'd almost keep it for that alone.

This thing is challenging my patience.

After messing with every setting endlessly with different BRs I feel like I've got a good sound quality, and the speaker certainly fills up my TV's viewing area without pushing any limits. I was pretty intent on keeping it but now it's started to stutter occasionally during netflix streaming. I have to exit the application and restart to make the stutter stop.

I guess I could try an HDMI hookup, but that defeats the coolness of the BT connection.

Placing the ferrite core around the soundbar and TV power cords only seems to help the stuttering a lot.
