From what I understand channel 1300 is the supposed 3-d channel so far on Cablevision. I guess programming is scarce, sounds typical regarding Cablevision being late with new technology. Their competition Verizon already has a 3-d channel. If Cablevision doesnt follow suit soon I think I will finally switch to Verizon.

They like to make sure you pay your monthly bill but they dont keep up with the times, I mean look at the cableboxes and the 16 bit looking screen interface.

Has anyone seen 3-D on Cablevision? I know they were the 1st with a 3D Broadcast but I have not heard anything since

Quote from Reuters:
"This agreement with Cablevision marks another milestone in the emergence of 3D entertainment in the home," said Michael V. Lewis, Chairman and CEO of RealD. "Now Cablevision customers who have 3D television sets will be able to experience high definition 3D from the comfort of their living room beginning with the Rangers vs. Islanders game."
The RealD Format builds on the company's patented side-by-side 3D formatting technology and is capable of delivering crisp, clear, high definition 3D to the home utilizing all channels of the existing HD broadcast infrastructure. Cablevision has chosen to use the side-by-side method as its primary method of delivering 3D content due to its ability to deliver high-quality progressive and interlaced video over existing infrastructure including existing HD set-top boxes and DVRs.

I have Metrocast Cablevision (Maine) and never heard anything about a 3-D channel.
I even did a 'channel request' online about the ESPN channel, and never heard back.

I have cablevision in the nyc area. They broadcast the Yankees v. Mariners game on YES HD 3D. It was amazing. Definitely wasn't perfect, but they had a camera angle behind home plate, and you really got to see the pitches move! It definitely give you a better "feel" for the game. There was a passed ball and I jerked my head to the side...

They also had some 3D footage around Seattle. They went to the fish market and had the guys throwing fish towards the camera. That was kinda cool too.

This was on channel 1300. The cool thing also is, I have the cablevision HD DVR and was able to record and replay the 3D feed. I know some other cable/phone/satellite providers were having some issues with getting a "custom" box or whatever for recording their 3D feeds. Works perfectly; I still have the games, since there is such little 3D content available.

Do you know what channel? Last time they showed something (on channel 1300), they had a teaser/ad up on that channel days before. Didn't see anything this morning on that channel at all.

The golf was pretty good I must say. I found out via email from Cablevision, I usually ignore their spam but the 3D email caught my eye.

how did you get them to email you about a 3d broadcast?

i'm praying that they'll pick up espn3d broadcasts of a weekly college football game this fall but knowing cablevision, i'm likely to be disappointed.

does anyone have any info on cablevision's upcoming 3d broadcast events??

thanks.

how long do you guys recommend i give cablevision a chance to pick up ESPN3D before switching to Directv?

i don't want to jump the gun and switch too early since comcast and time warner already carry it. However, I get the sense that (with my luck), cablevision will not in the near future.

thoughts?

If I could switch to DirecTV I would right now.

I think Cablevision's biggest threat is Verizon FIOS (based on the commercials). I imagine if FIOS gets it, Cablevision will follow soon after.

But I think I read that with DirecTV, you need a special DVR to record the 3D content. You might want to ask about that if you switch.

sorry to bump an old thread but this is the exact info i've been looking for - albeit 3 months old.

just got my samsung 3d plasma and whenever i go to 1300 i get "channel unavailable". is this what it says when there is no content being broadcast? or is this an error? i already have an HD box so i was expected 1300 to work without any further fiddling (other than upgrading to high speed hdmi).

i searched cablevision's website looking for a "3d schedule" but didn't find anything helpful.

is there a good resource for keeping up to date with what's playing on the cablevision 3d channel and when?

thanks

I was wondering same thing. I got my TV about 3 weeks ago and everytime I check the channel it says the same thing you get. I've checked when football games were on ESPN thinking maybe it was a schedule issue but channel still said same thing.

yep - i think the last thing they had was a golf event, and I got my TV all of 5 days before, so yes, I got to watch golf, but that has been it.

It has been rather disappointing to say the least. In another few months, if that does not change, I will likely be moving to Direct TV

Yep, I watched it just fine. That was the first 3D I've watched since I got my 3DTV.

My boxes wouldn't tune the channel in. I called CV and they were no help last night. I have a followup call coming from the next level of support.

What happened when you tuned, "Channel not Available"? I get that message a lot. You need to keep changing channels and changing back. Eventually, it tunes. Cablevision's implementation of Switched Digital Video leaves a lot to be desired.

First and last one I will watch, the only thing that looked 3D was the score board, mutch better in 2D

I tried everything before calling CV.... switching channels, rebooting, powering components off/on, etc.

I watched it but I do agree only the special performances and the behind player camera on faceoffs looked 3D besides the scoreboard. The behind the player view on faceoff's was pretty impressive it gave you sense that you were on ice with them playing as a defenseman.

Agree. They definitely have not figured out how to shoot hockey (or any other sport for that matter) in 3D yet. I recorded the 3D and was watching the 2D, and the camera angles for the 2D version were much better, for the viewing experience. If you took your glasses off for the 3D version, it was still very viewable; that should *never* be the case.
