I missed out on the World Cup due to late obtaining my 3d starter kit but I won't want to miss out this time our version of football.
Will there be any?
Does anyone have any insight or link as who and when any of either pro or college games will be broadcast in 3d this Fall?

During either the Home run derby or the All star game, there was a commercial showing college football broadcasts in 3D. They had USC running onto the field.

BTW, if you have D* many of the world cup games are available on Video on Demand.

I don't have a HD DVR though
I was hoping espn3d would have a re-run on it but I guess not now.
I'd love to see the Germany vs Argentina match in 3d simply because of the German high octane attack on their beloved Maradona's boys.

I was in Rio for that match and the Brazilians went crazy every time the Germans pounded the Argentines.

The BCS title game is supposed to be in 3D iirc. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Sony will sponsor ESPN 3DHD channel and events, including the exclusive 3D sponsor of the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, and 13 regular season college football games.

Rumor.

I'm not aware of any word on the 2011 Super Bowl in 3D at this time.

Probably didn't say what year.

From my experience with BB, their employees must be very bored and just make up things to tell customers to fill the time.

Pretty sweet.
I do enjoy watching college games more than pro.
It sounds like we may see at least one 3d college game every other week.

In Canada on CBC the following hockey games will be broadcast in 3D:
December 11th - Toronto vs Montreal
February 20th - Calgary vs Montreal (Outdoor game)

I still can't believe no one knows if the Feb 2011 Super Bowl will be broadcast in 3D this year?!?

True, but ESPN themselves don't have to do it. It could be a Direct TV/Sony/Panasonic/Samsung colaboration. Direct TV had that Nascar race in HD on their n3D channel that one time. Maybe it could be pay per view?

Man, all I know is that it would be super awesome if the Superbowl was going to be in 3D, but I'm guessing the chances are pretty freaking slim. I think the chances of seeing maybe a few NFL games in 3D next year are possible, but I just don't think we are going to get any at all this year, Superbowl and Pro-Bowl included. The NFL themselves probably see the 3D thing as a chance for them to make a power play on getting The NFL Network as part of more package plans. Maybe the NFL Network will have a NFL Network 3D channel available, where it shows one NFL game per week in 3D on it. Or maybe , you'll only be able to get NFL 3D from Direct TV. Could you imagine that? If the only way you could get 3D NFL games is to purchase the Sunday Ticket?

The reason the Super Bowl won't be in 3D is that the FOX affililates can't broadcast it over the air, yet. Standards are being developed that will allow local stations to broadcast 3D, so that anyone with a conventional ATSC tuner would receive a normal 2D picture. Stations count on high ratings for the Super Bowl, so they would scream bloody murder if DirecTV or anyone else syphoned away any viewers for a separate 3D feed.

Really? Scream bloody murder? Think about how many people around the country that would actually be able to watch in 3D. First off, you're limited to just Direct TV customers, secondly, you're limited to Direct TV customers that have a receiver that works with 3D, and then you need Direct TV customers that have a receiver that works with 3D, and also has a 3DTV. And on top of that, you'd need one that knows how to hook up everything properly. I'm guessing it would be less than 5 percent of the people that would be watching the Superbowl via Direct TV in High Def or Standard Def.

I don't think that would be anything to cry bloody murder over.

Correct, but.....

FOX did the MLB All Star game in 3D, exclusively available on DirecTV. They could do the same with the Super Bowl, if they so desired.

There is always the possibility that 3D cameras could be there, and that we could get a 3D Blu Ray coming out some time in the late spring that would show the Superbowl in 3D. At least some of the parts of the game. It could be similar to that Fifa world cup blu-ray.

I guess it would be better than nothing.

If the Superbowl is broadcast in 3D, does that mean people without 3D tvs wouldn't be able to watch the Superbowl due to a double image?

All 3D TV programs are on a special 3D channel. If the Super Bowl was in 3D, which it's not this year, it would be on a special 3D channel and it would also be on the normal HD & SD channels.

Man I hope they get 3D figured for NEXT football season. That's gotta be crazy. I do look forward to watching my beloved Bulls in 3D in March, though. I also understand some of the NBA playoffs will be in 3D. (All on ESPN3D)

I've been digging around and it appears that there are not any 3D games scheduled for the NFL this year. Assuming that's the case (?) I find it quite odd. I mean, we have the NBA in 3D and college football in 3D... I would think with ESPN's big push in 3D that they would have scheduled at least on Monday night NFL game in 3D, no?

ESPN just signed a new contract with the NFL and I think that 3D games are included but not starting till the 2013 or 14 season.
