So I just received this Blu Ray from Samsung and I love it so here's my review

Movie: 5/5
This movies is about Hiccup, a misfit viking who shoots down a Night Fury (deadliest dragon ever) by accident to impress his tribe and father who HATE dragons with a passion. Eventually the title comes to play and he learns to fly... and save his village. The voice acting was great. Jay Baruchel empathized on his nerd factor on Hiccup making Hiccup an excellent empathic character who was easy to relate to (if you are in AVS you should sympathize you are a NERD too!) Gerald Butler was perfect for Stoick the Vast, Hiccup's dad with an awesome accent and fitting character. However with an all star cast America Ferrera fell flat as her character was bland and predictable but her screaming was hilarious.

Audio: 5/5
With a superb Dolby TrueHD 7.1 mix you can hear the brilliance in the small details like background stepping or noises like chatter with clarity. This lossless audio is a step above the lossy presentation of MvA (Monsters VS ALIENS) and really places an audience member within the action. The audio also amplifies the 3D effect subtly by adding hearing to the mix. Especially with a Sony STRDA4300ES 7.1 CH 700W Surround Sound A/V Receiver system the audio is in pristine uncompressed quality!

Video: 5/5
The video has great quality a brilliant transfer. The 3D effects were even better with dragon heads actually popping and coming out of the screen in a clear fashion. However there were some ghosting issues and really dark scenes that were surprisingly bright on the 2D version. Scenes like the Dragon Training was actually presented well with awesome depth and did not seem cheesy with 3D gags and cliques such as 'ping-pong' effects. The disc is a treasure and amazing to share and really shows off my Samsung 9000 better than MvA would ever do.

I did not mark off tiny issues like seconds of ghosting, however this disc is brilliantly rendered , high quality but lacks features. However true fans of 3D and the film itself will not be disappointed. I will sell on eBay before the commercial release drops but for now this exclusive gets an A!

Well I have submitted 20+ of these and its never been that fast. It takes sometimes up to 5 days just from the time it is shipped to get to your house.

If you submit the code online you never talk to a lady, so I am not even sure who you talked to

No. All it will say is it's been processed and shipping soon. You will receive an e-mail when it ships. I submitted my code on 10/21 and I got the e-mail yesterday saying the disc has been shipped. I believe the disc ships from the East coast so if you are on the West coast like me, it will take close to a week or so to get.

I finally watched my copy yesterday and color me impressed. I enjoyed the story much more than I thought I would. Only issues I had were with either my transmitter or glasses on my Samsung PN50C680 50" Plasma. The audio was fantastic and really immersed you into the story. Just wish they included the 16 minute short film with it as well, but at least we got hi-def audio. 3D image was amazing and really showcased how good home 3D can really look.

thalazy, trust me, you're not missing much on the short film. It was on Cartoon Network I believe, the night before the 2d bluray came out, and wasn't that great. Pretty stupid if I say so

Thanks! That's good to hear. Hopefully they don't screw up the sequel.

Can you purchase this disc if you got the 3D starter kit with MVA? I guess there is no retro offer for people who purchased their TV a couple of months ago?

no, currently it's only available with the 2d copy of HTTYD in stores. Guess you could always check ebay for the 2d disc.

But don't pay too much $$$ just to get the extra content, just sayin'

Do you mean that HTTYD 3D is on sale in retail stores? I thought I read otherwise

I wouldn't anticipate HTTYD 3d bluray disc to be available at retail until 2011. But the Samsung exclusive deal is only for the next week or so. Once that expires the starter kits will come with a coupon to get one of the Shrek movies in 3d through Samsung

I finally just watched my copy of HTTYD and I think it's the best 3D I've seen so far. The movie is pretty good too. I sure do hope the upcoming 3D releases such as the Polar Express and Christmas Carol look just as good.

What .iso sw are you using to mount the file? As far as I know you can't get 3D to work this way. I tried ripping the movie to .iso but I can't get it play this due to the image not being 3D capable.
