I'm sure it will

Honestly, I hated this movie so much, I don't think I would watch it ever again, even if it were the penultimate 3D experience, LOL!

But if you like it, I hope it comes out soon!

Play nice. It's just an online forum :)

From a business perspective, I'm pretty sure just about all top 250 movies you see on imdb.com will eventually be converted to first bluray, then to 3d. I.e., I'm pretty sure they are converting titanic, lords of the ring, spiderman, matrix, star wars as we speak.

I remember watching Beowulf at the movie theater in RealD; thought it was a good movie with a good story and solid "virtual" performances but in terms of 3D it was all about depth of field as there was hardly anything that popped out of the screen (I only recall one brief scene of a soldier pointing a spear out at me).

There are actually quite a few off the screen gimmicks in it.

I really enjoyed this movie when I saw it with my friends. We were all amazed by the dragon at the end. It felt like you were looking through a window and the village was being burned outside(cgi village lol). I can't wait to double dip with this movie. Absolutely loved it.

Beowolf is the BEST 3D Animation Period. Possible contenders are Final Fantasy and Resident Evil. Every other animation is intended for children 3-7. Can't wait for 3D version of this, I saw it in theature and 3D was pretty awesome and memorable. I got the DVD, then ended up buying blu-ray. I'll buy 3D bluray when that's out. Then I'll buy the purple-ray 2160p disk and then RED Camera 3D version when that comes out. It's that good.

I would love this movie in 3D I just noticed a few minutes ago that it was an IMAX 3D title and was shocked that I hadn't discovered that earlier.

I don't think it was shown in 3D in Sweden - I just bought the dc edition for bluray not knowing there could be a 3d bluray made in the future in fact I usually refuse to see a 3d movie in 2d if I know it's made in 3D so really sad to see that it was made in 3d but not released in it frown.gif

It goes to show the studios lack of interest in 3D. They don't see enough profit in it. If they do release it, it will come in the collectors 3D edition wchich includes, blu-ray 3D, DVD, LaserDisc, VHS, and collectable frame from a faded 35mm print.....all for $150.00. Pre-order on Amazon for $115.00.

Re-releasing this title on Blu-ray 3D is a no-brainer. Why Robert Zemeckis hasn't jumped all over this is beyond me. "A Christmas Carol" and "Mars Needs Moms" are both available on Blu-ray 3D, so you'd think he would ensure that the more successful "Beowulf" got the same treatment as well.

I loved this movie, I think this is the first 3D movie that I saw that made me addicted to watching 3D movies ever since! I wonder why a 3D Bluray version hasn't been released for this? Do they still need to do a conversion since it was shown in the theatres in 3D? confused.gif I'll gladly watch this again if they do another release on the theatres! tongue.gif

Beowulf was actually the first feature length movie I saw in a theater!! Unfortunately, the theater was so packed, that me, my wife, and a friend ended up sitting very close to the screen, and everything was keystoned!

I'd seen other short subject stuff at home using a shutterglasses DVD 480i system i had bought in the early 2000's . Couldn't stand the flicker!! Like the passive systems much better.

I think what happened is that the director of the film whose style is so unique lost so much face with "moms are from mars" that he must be in hiatus in the mediterranean, and having become toxic the studio may be a little retiscient to call him back for the BD transfer. But I think he should oversee it anyways, time to start redeeming.... at least with a great BD transfer of BeoWulf, a great seminal 3D flick.

Either that or going back to what he does best, creating award-winning live-action films. Still, I'd love to see Beowulf on BD3D and more 3D projects from Robert Zemeckis.

'Mars Needs Moms' is actually pretty good 3D bluray (from a technical standpoint.) Storyline isn't the greatest but decent family flick and better than some would have you think.

Watched this in Imax 3D. Was the 2.35 presentation cropped from the Imax, or vice versa?
Hoping for 1.78 if the blu ray ever releases.

Most likely the 1.78:1 is an open matte version. If we do get a release, I wouldn't expect to get that one since The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol BD3Ds are 2.35:1. It would be nice to have the option though.

Considering the movie was filmed anamorphic, it wouldn't be open-matte. So I wouldn't even bother with a 3D video release that's cropped.

IMDB actually says the IMAX version aspect ratio was 1.44:1. I don't see why it wouldn't have been "opened up" since the movie is a digital animation, and that is a pretty substantial amount of image to crop from 2.39:1.

I am hoping for the opposite. I want the scope version in 3d.
